First of all the place is enormous, kind of like 4 hotels rolled into 1, but this isn't a problem as bellboys are constantly driving golf carts around to bring you wherever you would like to go. The place is complete luxury in every sense of the word, and the rooms, bars and restaurants are all truly amazing. We stayed at Nizuc and had a fantastic sea view which was a pleasure to wake up to every morning and we also felt this is an ideal spot as you are in the middle of the grand and the sunrise, so getting around is only a short walk.

The thing which makes this resort stand out from anywhere I have stayed before are the Staff, they truly are the most amazingly accommodating people I ever come across. The barman Jorge at los columpios bar was amazing, every night we visited him he made us feel really important and always knew when we needed a new drink, that guy was awesome, pay him a visit! He made a mean Mojito.

Another example of how great the staff were at Moon Palace was when my girlfriend had an accident, a staff member called Alain tended to our every need, and ensured a wheelchair was organised and arranged for us to see a doctor right away. Alain even arranged for medication which was out of stock to be brought in from off site. He turned what felt like a complete disaster at the end of our trip into a minor problem..... All I can say is WOW! The guy showed great compassion and efficiency in a rather stressful situation which really put us at ease and made us feel a lot happier about our last day at the resort. Thanks Alain!

The food was awesome, and the a la carte restaurants were excellent, you are spoilt for choice of where to eat and what cuisine to choose from. Even the buffet food is fresh, and the term buffet is used loosely as there is always the option to have certain dishes cooked fresh in front of you while you wait. This place is luxury and upgrading to concierge with your resort credits makes your stay feel as though you are some sort of celebrity VIP! We had amazing upgraded wine and champagne with every meal, which really gave it that extra touch. I would thoroughly recommend the Moon palace to anyone.

All in all this is a fantastic resort with amazing people; you will have an amazing time.

Mother /Daughter four night vacation with focus on relaxation. This resort was much more than we expected-Italian restaurant in golf spa was excellent-food through-out the resort was very good-attentive employees -willing to go out of their way to please customer. Very clean. Need to walk more than usual to get from one area to the next but enjoyed the views getting around-would definitely return-

Room Tip: All rooms are the same-chose a room close to lobby/pool

We went to the Moon Palace (2 families of 4) over Spring Break (April 2012). We have visited Mexico several times and have also stayed at many all inclusive properties so our expectations are reasonable. We had a GREAT family vacation and no real complaints. This property is large and capable of keeping a variety of people happy. While I say this is not 5 star, I am referring to Sunrise (where we stayed) and Nizuc sections. Grand probably qualifies as 5 star. This property is old and yes, it is dated. With that said, rooms are still very acceptable, clean, etc. Also, with deluxe family accommodations, you bascially get 2 rooms for price of one - which makes it worth it. Credits are nice, but a bit of hassle with limitations - just make sure you know what you are getting and you won't be disappointed. Food and drink were very good and certainly as high quality as I have received at an all inclusive. I saw many raving about the service - I am a nice person who TIPS and I did not experience exceptional service, though it was also not bad service. All in all, I would recommend this property SO LONG AS you have appropriate expectations.

Room Tip: Grand section is FAR nicer than the others and much quieter. Family deluxe room is really the only...

We (a group of girls) left live aqua to come to this place and probably should have just stayed at live aqua. This place in my opinion just seems outdated. I gave it a "poor" overall based on our room location and smell. All the decor is hunter green and peach. We supposedly had an ocean view room so no need to pay for the upgrade, however, it was above one of the buffets so the smell was so bad you couldn't even open your window. There was warm pipes that blew air right in the room if open the smell of the buffet. Awful! Also our room was right outside where all the karaoke was Saturday night. Super loud till 11. They also play very loud violin type music until 11pm each night.

On the plus side the nightlife at hotel much better than live aqua. Swing bars and plenty of places to walk around to. Kids and wedding parties seemed to be having a blast so I think if a good deal, "free" drinks and sub par food is what you are looking for you will be happy. Ill be the first to admit im snobby about hotels. for someone who has high expectations, they will be dissatisfied. My past two trips have been to Hawaii and as expected, there is no comparison. I think I'm just over the all inclusive hotel thing.. If you do want to go to cancun and are a couple I would recommend royal cancun.
