Review:
Overall a fantastic experience!  Would go back to the same hotel

Hotel:  Very clean and well maintained.  Not first class in design but if you consider the overall experience,  the design is a non-issue.  The great thing is the gym is provided for free and if your flight leaves in the evening even after checkout at 11:00 am you can still use the pool or beach because a dressing room with showers and toiletries/towels is provided. They will look after your luggage.  Not to mention access to food and drinks. Free wifi in the lobby area with an awesome ocean view.  Wherever you choose to eat, there's always a spectacular view of the ocean.  If you don't get an ocean view room, it's not a problem because the lagoon view is also beautiful.  You get the sunset over the lagoon.  Spectacular!

Staff:  First class, friendly and extremely helpful.  They were hardworking and always pleased to serve.  Awesome from the bell boys to the front desk, maids to the servers! Beware of timeshare offer when you arrive but if you're not interested they were very understanding. If you attend a session, you get freebies.  Up to you how you spend your time.

Food:  Enjoyable and no shortage of food.  There are some staples repeated daily but overall you will not go hungry.  Pace yourself, choose different foods daily and you won't find yourself eating the same thing. !  Try the different restaurants for dinner because there are theme nights.  The snack bar provides the standard burger, fries, wings, nachos but they add daily varieties to enjoy.  The pork ribs were amazing.  They had stir fry chicken, civilian and more.  The buffet always had fresh food and lots to choose from. The outdoor restaurant keeps you connected to the pool and beach.  Great ambience!

Drinks:  No shortage, of course....the sky's the limit!  Service from bar staff was great.

Entertainment:  Nightly shows were very entertaining and professionally done!  The theatre was always set up beautifully and well attended.  Lobby entertainment was a nice addition in the late evening.  Pool entertainment during the day was mediocre but the entertainment staff were friendly.  Music played by the pool was the same over.  Better selection required.  Spend some time in the marina pedal boating or kayaking.  Guests of the hotel gets it for free with your all inclusive stay.  It was beautiful.

Kids club:  Available but we didn't really use it.  Couldn't stay with my daughter.  It was a drop off program.  If you want some time for yourself it's an option but we wanted to spend time together so didn't avail of it.

Ocean:  Fantastic. The beach was beautiful but the waves can be very strong.  We stayed poolside most of the time.  The view is top rated!  Some vendors sell hats, glasses or braid services.  Not cheap but the choice is yours.

Tours:  Consider taking a tour of Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world.   It was amazing!  Our trip consisted of 3 stops: Suytun Cenote (cavern), restaurant and gift shop (with live band and dancers), finally the majestic Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza.  We booked through the operator in the hotel, deluxe package.  Very reasonable in price especially when you have a large group.  There were 7 of us.  Be prepared to lose a full day from 7 am to 7 pm but it is worth it.

Shopping outside the hotel:  they have modern malls but try the local market.  For $8.50 pesos we took the bus outside the hotel and went to Market 28.  The buses run 24 hrs a day.  Drivers will stop anywhere to pick you up but they do have bus stops along the hotel zone.  Arts and crafts and other souvenir items are available.  Be prepared to barter  the best deal.  They know the value of a dollar.  Got my daughter's braids for $5 for a half a head.  Great deal!

Tips:  Not required but a good gesture.  They truly appreciate it.   I brought $50 USD and practically used it all.  They exchange at the front desk but no small bills.  Typically in $10, $20 bills.

They have a clothing donation program.  Bring clean clothes for kids and they will donate to needy children.  What a great way to help the community.

We had a wonderful stay with Royal Solaris, the have such a great staff. Everyone is friendly and works hard to make you happy. The resort is older but well maintained and very clean. We ate a Rosmarinus most evenings, the food was good and the open air of the palalpa was perfect. The Royal Solaris is not the most fancy place, but we are not fancy people. It is however a very comfortable atmosphere with a nice beach and pool.

Room Tip: We will stay again. I recomend booking a jacuzzi, ocean view room, that way you will have a balcony...

We were here for 4 nites as part of a 29 day vacation in the Yucutan. We have travelled Mexico for over 15 years now and stayed in several hotels from all inclusives to little B & B's, and we have never had such consistently wonderful and friendly staff. Everyone, from the front desk check in to the maids, bartenders, doormen, etc. were fantastic. Definitely a cut above and I suspect it has something to do with the fact that unlike most all inclusives, this one is actually owned by Mexicans. Most seem to be American or European owned. The beach here is only average-the sand is a little grainy and the undertow is an issue-you can go in but the lifeguards whistle if you go too deep or in the wrong spot. Playa del Carmen's downtown beach is way better, in our view.
We loved the pool area layout, swim up bar, etc. lots of chairs and umbrellas. They even have beds with curtains and roofs, both on the beach and around the pool.
Check out the marina across the hiway for free rentals of paddle boats, kayaks, etc. The water on the lagoon is calm.
The rooms were roomy but a bit dated. The air con worked but not great. They upgraded us for free to an ocean view.
The buffet food is average and typical for 3-4 star all inclusives.
We enjoyed the a la carte evenings at Marco Polo-the main courses we had were OK, but the appetizers were great. And as usual, excellent service.
After check in a nice gentleman sat us down and explained everything about the resort, but 5 minutes in I knew where this was going-a time share presentation. We quickly said we were NOT interested and he let it go at that. No pressure after that.
I would recommend this place to budget minded people looking for an all inclusive resort, but only if you are OK with a beach with some undertow.

Room Tip: We heard no complaints from anyone no matter where they were.

My mom and I wanted a cheap fun spring break and we found a great deal, 8 days 7 nights, online for the Royal Solairs. We got to the airport and the shuttle picked us up and took us right to the hotel. We were booked for a regular "garden view"..basically the most standard room you can get. well it was ready and they apoligized and said they would give us a different room. They directed us across the property to the Caribe side and when we got to our room we were crazy surprised! They put us in a Suite! 2 full bathrooms, a living room, a little kitchen nook area and 8, yes 8 windows facing the ocean! We were blown away.
The pools on both sides were good but we didn't come to Cancun for a pool so we spent most of our time on the beach. We were those people who get up super early (6am) to reserve the little huts on the beach, but we usually stayed there and napped until the sun was up. One of us would go get breakfast and bring it down to the beach. The huts are def worth getting up early for. The keep you shaded all day your just have to move your chair.
The resort set up a trip for us to Senior Frogs and we had a blast. We met some people from Boston and hung out with them all night. The bus ride back was easy and the driver asked us where we were staying and dropped us off right in front of the hotel.
It was a great vacations and we will be going back in a few weeks
