Stayed for just one night en route to Tulum, Merida and then Isla Mujeres.
Like most of the hotels on the beachfront, this was a bit corporate and faceless. The room was big, clean, modern and all rooms have a sea view. The pool is enormous.
On arrival they didn't have a record of our reservation. It took three members or reception staff anf about 25 minutes of mucking around before they finally realised they had to phone through to some head office to check it. They then said they didn't have a clean room for us so we had to wait over an hour. This was quite frustrating after a long flight, especially as we'd booked the room weeks before.
We had dinner in the main restaurant which was surprisingly quiet considering the number of people round the pool earlier in the day. It definitely lacked a bit of atmosphere. Food was pricey but quite good with a range of Mexican and predictable American/European options.
For breakfast, the on-site mini-mart served good coffee and pastries.
Overall, for a one night flop and drop it was fine but I wouldn't rush back. I'd probably get cabin fever staying there for more than two or three days. It would definitely be a waste of a trip to this great country to spend too long in Cancun.
One slightly iffy thing to note. When we checked out, they had people in reception with clipboards taking feedback from customers. They asked if you had a Tripadvisor account and if not, they then said they'd set one up in your name and submit your comments. I'm guessing, possibly unfairly, that if you left a stinker of a review it might not make it to the site! I've never seen this before but suspect it's a new trend being repeated in big chain hotels worldwide.
