Owner description: The former estate of "El Chorrillo" is a beautiful sixteenth-century historic site located in the northern part of the city of Taxco de Alarcon. The building, which was owned by the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez, is considered one of the first profit mining estates in America. The process of separation of silver by using large amounts of water as a driving power lasted for over 400 years.

This Hacienda was my wife's home when she grow up in Mexico as a child. Her Father Andres Sullivan also grew up in Taxco and his father "Sully" brought out the magic of this wonderful Hacienda as people from around the world would come to stay here and enjoy the beautiful town of Taxco. The Sullivan family sold the Hacienda to the government and has since come back to the U.S. They still travel to Taxco on occasion as they have a family member forever on the Hacienda del Chorrillo site. Sometimes, on a quite moonlit night her spirit can be seen walking the grounds she loved so dearly.

The public university of Mexico has a school for foreigners to learn Spanish there so we went to explore the possibility of studying there. The staff were very receptive, kind, and encouraging. The grounds are a little in disrepair, but in a charming sort of way. The pool is kept clean.
