We loved this place. Nice large room, including huge bathroom and shower (I think we rented the largest available). Lovely center courtyard. The entire place was hospital-clean and seemed brand new. Friendly staff. Very nice included breakfast. I second all the comments about how the thick windows kept out the street noise. I’d go back in a minute.

We stayed at the Parador for 5 nights and were very pleased with our selection. Our room was extremely spacious and comfortable. Despite being located on a busy pedestrian street, the double glazing ensures that the rooms are very quiet. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel restaurant each morning. It is within easy walking distance of most attractions and good restaurants in central Oaxaca.

Room Tip: We were in room 12 which I would highly recommend. No's 10, 11 and 13 are probably also as good.

You will have no worries here! Highlights: location, comfort, cleanliness, little luxuries, excellent service at the front desk, and a very fine, quiet restaurant/bar on the premises. Well worth the price. We are planning to return. Here are some practical tips. -- First, it's in a busy location. If you are bothered by barking dogs and street parades, bring earplugs. I did not find it excessively noisy. -- Second, the room electricity is governed by the room key being in a power slot, as in European hotels. Saving power is good! But this means when you leave the room, the AC, the table clock, and anything you might be recharging, will all go dark. Plan accordingly. The AC works quickly and well, so you don't need to leave it running anyway. -- The beautiful marble floors can be chilly, so you might want slippers for the room. -- The same marble floor is in the shower. Very slippery when wet, so be careful, or ask for a shower mat at the very helpful front desk. -- The sunny rooftop pool is a gem. If you are sunphobic but you still want a dip, there is a wall that shades the pool water after about 2:30 pm (in Feb, at least). From 3-4 was a great swim time. The pool is unheated but it was quite comfortable when we were there... It varies in temp according to the weather. There are four lounge chairs with sun canopies, too. -- And by all means, eat an evening meal at the courtyard restaurant, or grab a drink mid-pm or evening. They serve til 11 pm. It's not a full fancy bar, no pina coladas, but there's a great selection of mezcal, wine, beer, liquors and liqueurs, and non- alc drinks if you prefer.

Room Tip: 19 is nice, at the back, up one flight

Great boutique hotel on walking street. Halfway between Zocala and Santa Domingo church. Next to fine restaurants and good coffee plac e Black Cafe. Rooms large and quiet. Restaurant food and service very good. Front desk people very helpful and resourceful. Very good tourist desk right in hotel to arrange private tours to monte Alban and other sites.

My husband and I have just spent 6 wonderful nights at the Parador de Alcala, which is located on a pedestrian street in the Centro, very close to everything: the Zocalo main plaza, the cathedrals, restaurants, shops, art museums! All hotel staff were very friendly and worked hard to make sure that our stay was a pleasant one.
I requested a quiet room on the top floor with balcony and city view and that is exactly what we got (#9). Although not huge by any means, the layout was perfect, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was great. From our little balcony, we had the pleasure of seeing all kinds of activites taking place on the street, including two weddings on Dia de Los Reyes!
The breakfast, which was included in our price, was excellent and there was a very good variety of dishes to choose from, from omelets to hot cakes, all artistically displayed, and the service was impeccable.
Oaxaca is one of the most interesting towns we have visited in Mexico and if we go back, we will most certainly stay at this lovely, well situated hotel.

Room Tip: We felt that #9 was perfect! Second floor with great view of street. There is no elevator so be prepared for stairs.
