“An elegant retreat in the heart of Oaxaca”
Reviewed 10 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

It's hard to imagine how it could be better! This beautiful house was perfect for a month's stay for two of us, while two friends joined us for two weeks, and one other friend came for the second two weeks. There was plenty of room for all. The kitchen was totally functional for breakfast, lunch or dinner prepared in home. The inner garden courtyards gave us bird-watching and the quiet sounds of a fountain, while the rooftop terrace with chairs and dining table showed us a panoramic view of the city. A great fresh-food market was two blocks away, and a 10-minute walk took us to Santo Domingo, shops, restaurants, and two major parks. Fernanda, the house manager, was very helpful and good-hearted. We'd go back in a minute!

“More than we could have hoped for!”
Reviewed 8 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

A friend and I booked the house for the month of April (and we had different visitors who occupied the 3rd bedroom for a week at a time). We took 4 weeks of Spanish language classes at the Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca. This house has everything!!! It was close to the school and close to the parts of town we wanted to explore, it has a wonderful "mercado" very near -- the Sanchez Pascua market. The neighborhood felt friendly and safe. The housekeeper took wonderful care of the place and of us!! The owner, in Minnesota, kept track of us and was very available and responsive to our needs. And the house -- oh, the house!!! It is just a marvel -- so beautifully designed and comfortable for living in. I think we enjoyed the roof garden most of all, but really everything about the house was perfect.
Thanks to Lance (the owner), Fernanda (the housekeeper) and Daniel (the neighbor). We had a wonderful time in beautiful Oaxaca in this jewel of a house!!

“Lovely home in Oaxaca - an oasis, yet close to everything”
Reviewed 16 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

This house had everything, it was within walking distance to the historic city center, great restaurants and a market, yet felt peaceful and private once inside the door. The owner is extremely responsive to any questions and concerns. We will definitely look to rent the house again when we return to Oaxaca.

“The "Architect's House" is incredible; a perfect place to stay in Oaxaca!”
Reviewed 20 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Staying at the "Architect's House" is wonderful in every way we can think to mention. We were met at the airport by the owner's local representative, driven to the house and oriented into a graceful architectural wonder. The location is private and quiet; the house is a gem of steel, glass, concrete, wood and light. All amenities, including hot water, kitchen, wi-fi, bedding and linens are top quality. The private gardens and roof top patio are delightfully well conceived and integrated in to the marvelous overall design.
In addition to fine housekeeping, we have engaged the wonderful maid for laundry service, to cook a chili relleno dinner, and to provide an upcoming cooking class for us and a few friends. We only hope that by providing this honest rave review, we don't make it too difficult for us to rent again in the future! On a scale of one-to-five, the "Architect's House" is clearly a ten.

“This house inspires me as an architect by reminding me why I became an architect.”

The design of this house enhanced our experience of Oaxaca by providing a gracious bracket to our days: a place to enjoy leisurely four-cups-of-coffee mornings at the start of our day and a place to look forward to returning to in the evenings at the end of our days exploring Oaxaca. In addition, it is conveniently located near a wonderful local outdoor market and is within easy walking distance of the historic district.
