Nothing special, over priced since mostly tourist go there. Food was ok kinda interesting but nothing special. It you want to kill time and say you been there....otherwise go get some tacos.

“Not within the top 10 for me”
Reviewed 27 May 2012

We are gourmet and very good restaurants are affordable in Mexico so we launched on a grand tour of the best restaurants (from the Chilango magazine list) of the capital.
We love Pujol and Nobu, but Biko and Jaso don't deserve a spot in the top 10 list for us.

First it is hard to find Jaso: there is no name! You have to go by street numbers (which are weird in Mexico anyway). We were seated upstairs almost in the corridor when further more quiet was available - don't know why. You would think that by being on their way we would have had good service? no! They kept forgetting us (and sometimes were too present) and at these prices I'm annoyed to even have to call the waiter once, imagine 4 to 5 times ...

The cool thing when you start is the wine list on iPad - it is not only cool, it is necessary because it is too dark to read the normal menu!

The food was good but nothing to die for (except the steep prices). They had a waiter only for breads and they present 5 or 6 very good kinds but then he forgot us. We called another waiter to call him, the bread guy arrived, served the table next to us and promptly disappeared again without serving us!

We shared several dishes with another couple so we had the main dish in the center and served ourselves in our plates. One of their best dish is the Ravioles with Foie Gras. We were not finished with this very expensive dish that a waiter took the plate so fast we could not stop - we protested! In good restaurants, one always needs to ask permission to remove plates or dishes even even they are empty (and it was not). Because of the protest they actually gave us another same dish for free which was very nice of them.

What I mean by 'too present' is when the wine waiter keeps pouring wine in already full glasses so that he can proudly claim "the bottle is empty and shall I bring a new one?"

So between all the small annoyances, the hefty bill and the food that was not as creative as in other 'similar' places, we don't need to come back.

Superb.
Expect to pay about us$ 100 per person.
But it is sure worth it.

“Very good food, expensive, great experience”

Great chefs who are very experimental. Tasting menu was a bit too much food (although amazing nonetheless). A place to try once but I wouldn't go back on a regular basis.

“Not worth it.”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

I've been to Michelin star restaurants such as Providence and Ortolan in Los Angeles; Gilt and Gordon Ramsey's in New York; Hugos in Berlin and even Pujol in Mexico City and even though Jaso is not a Michelin star restaurant it charges the same prices for mediocre food and for sloppy service. The desserts certainly are at the level of the other restaurants I've mentioned but the savory dishes leave a great deal to be desired. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and enjoyed only the desserts. The savory dishes seemed to blend in with each other and offered no distinct or rich flavors. These restaurants charge high prices for the unique artistry of the dishes but I felt Jaso was pulling one over on us. I wouldn't be so harsh with this critique if the restaurant's bill hadn't been so ridiculous for what we had. Won't go back except for a dessert.
