“Great location, fun architecture”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

This hotel is a fun labyrinth that meanders up the hillside with a huge tree growing out of the middle and great patios with city views. Wandering around the place is being in an Escher painting. The rooms are clean & comfortable, not elegant but cozy with plenty of hot water. Breakfasts are good. It's in a great location, next to the Diego Rivera museum, the University and the city's main avenue - close to everything (on foot of course). You can even easily duck into one of those crazy traffic tunnels that make Guanajuato one of the best tourist stops in Mexico. Note, this hotel is definitely not for people with physical disabilities or who don't like stairs.

The reception spoke great English, were helpful with bags. I might spend a bit more and take a fancier place if I were travelling romantically, but for a quick stay with a friend, this place was excellent value for money. Rooms were big with a small kitchenette, bathroom was on the small side, but again for €70 for 2 people including breakfast, I had zero complaints. And I usually like to complain;)

Room Tip: 206 was fine, included a kitchenette, was quiet and secure

I stayed here with a friend and we had an amazing time. The rooms are big, clean and beautiful. We had a great view of the city from our balcony.

We went to Guanajuato to get away from the city in Guadalajara for a weekend and it was the perfect place. The hotel has a great breakfast and is located right in the center of town and only a few buildings away from the childhood home of Diego Rivera.

Everything was perfect except this hotel has a lot of stairs, it might not be the best choice for anyone elderly. We also didn't seem to have a lot of hot water - quick showers!

I really loved it though, I would stay here again!

I wanted to like this place, but it came up short in some areas. The location is perfect, the staff are very helpful & friendly, and the price is good. But, the hotel itself is a bit of a rabbit warren of rooms. There are loads of stairs, which was not a major problem. But the layout of the hotel with all the stairwells, rooms, etc detracted from what could be a very nice hotel. I would probably stay here again as the location & staff are great.

Room Tip: Pick a room away from the street

Just stayed here for 3 nights and my brother and I absolutely loved this hotel. First it is most unusual in the way it is built and both the architecture and color were amazing. Everything about the hotel was charming. Good size rooms with excellent beds and beautiful decor.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are lovely and it was very quiet.
