Hilton Guadalajara is spacious, rooms are nicely sized. Their restaurants have good food and theijr local tequila bar makes evening enjoyable.

This is not a new place, but overall a good place to stay for business.

I was here with a collegue twice, for business reasons.
Staff is so nice and kind, they reminded about us the second time we came and were very helpful with everything. One night I had some troubles with my room neighbors, since they were making lot of noise; I called the reception and in less than 5 minutes they sent someone to knock at their door to make them calm down.
Concierge service is very useful, concierge is prepared and has much information.
Rooms are big and cleaning service is good; they are also being renovated. Some waiters fold clothes left around in the room.
Laundry service is effective, only some issues regarding collants.
Buffet breakfast is served at the restaurant, coffee is good, plenty of fruit; it is not very much a continental breakfast, much more a mexican brunch. You can have omelete prepared on your own way directly in front of you.
For lunch during the week there is buffet; if you want to order à la carte waiting time is very long.
There is also a steakhouse called "Angus" where food is very good, both meat, shrimps and desserts; crepes are prepared directly at your table.
A bar with good cocktails is available in the Lobby.
Wi-fi internet connection is available, charge depends on the agreement. A suggestion would be improve the connection, since in some bedrooms the signal is low.
SPA services are excellent, we had some massages and we were really glad about them.
Small swimming pool and gim are available.
I would reccomend it to everybody.

LOCATION: It's located right across the street from Guadalajara Expo, the most important exposition and congress venue in the city, so location is fine if you are attending something there. Otherwise, downtown is about 15 minutes driving.

SERVICE: Service is kind of cold and impersonal if you are expecting the mexican warmness. There's a service hotline which allows you to ask for anything by pressing one button of your room's phone and sometimes it works OK, depending on what you ask for. Housekeeping department is one of the biggest hotel's weaknesses. Housekeepers will wake you up at 7am by yelling from one side to the other of the corridors and banging doors... not what you'd expect from a Hilton.

FOOD: Another weakness. Food in Mexico and specially in this region is just fabolous! Sadly, inside the Hilton this is not the case. Hotel's food is bad and expensive, from the breakfast buffet to the terrible room service which will charge you 17% extra for the service and $2 dollars for ¨tray concept¨(!! ???) for cold, dull food and small portions. Again, not what you'd expect from a Hilton.

ROOMS: The hotel is about 30 years old, which is a lot when there's a lack of manteinance. Rooms and common areas recently went trough a superficial makeover fearing the arrival to the area of new and better hotels as Camino Real, Riu and the brand new Westin right next door. In this case, superficial changes don't solve deep problems as terrible sewage systems (you can hear water running trough the pipes, there are bad smells from the drainages and when showering you'll suffer from freezing water immediately followed by scalding water), thin walls, bad air conditioning and overall the staff's uncaring attitude. The new image is suposed to be modern and cool. They took away the scummy bathtubs and the scary paintings, which is good news, but the finishings are mediocre, as they were clearly in a hurry. Be aware that room windows can't be opened and there are smoking rooms, so atmosphere in the room is always heavy and even if you are in a non-smoking room, the odor will arrive from the ventilation ducts.

COMMON AREAS: Lobby is very ample and less dark than it used to be before the remodeling. Gym is very good and even it's not big, it has a wide variety of cardio equipment and weights. Spa is also good with free steam room, although treatments and other services are very expensive. Another bad thing is that they charge you for the wifi service in the room (which is a common practice in Hilton hotels, so they apparently just take the wrong standards from the chain, but not the good ones). Business center is really unfunctional and expensive (about 1 USD for a copy!) Overall, they'll nickel and dime you everywhere.

OVERALL: Nice try with the makeover, but there are deeper problems to be solved before the up and coming new hotels around will leave Hilton KO. Good luck!

Room Tip: There are terrible rooms next to the elevators or viewing a wall, so make sure not to get one of tho...

I was here on Christmas Day passing through Guadalajara for the night. Check in was really quick, which is what I wanted espacially after being in an airplane for so long. The room was beyond what I came to expect especially for the price i was offered. Not only where the beds comfortable, but the pillows where perfect for a great sleep. We came to order room service and the food was great. The ice cream could have tasted better but it was still ok. Everyone at the Hilton was wonderful. I would definately go back.

The food is bad, we were going to the westin next door for breakfast because of the food. Concierge doesnt help you at all, he even send us to a mall that was closed even after I ask him if he was sure due to the date (january 1st) his name is moises. He could recommend us a place to spend new years eve as well. Rooms are okay. If you are going to an expo the location is great but I will prefer to stay elsewhere.
