Mediocre food and treated like intruders

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 31 Aug 2022
Visited the prismas balsalticas and thought of spending the night here. Had lunch in the restaurant, which, although not bad per se, was extremely mediocre. Nothing special offered on the menu that you couldn’t get in thousands of restaurants around Mexico. Afterwards we wanted to walk around to see if we wanted to stay. We were actually followed out of the restaurant and chased down very aggressively and told there was no walking around allowed unless you paid for a tour. We were basically treated like criminal trespassers. We, of course, left immediately. Would not go back and would not recommend.

In general it was a bad esperience, although the Hacienda is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and attentive, the room was quite uncomfortable, since it did not even have a chair or table to put the suitcase, so you had to put it on the floor and bend over or load it and put it on the bed. The food's quality is very bad and not enough for all the people in those crowded days, the meals are inclluded in the price wich is expensive for a bad room a awful food. We decided to leave next day from our arrival. We have been here before and it wasn't like this, it used to be very much better.

Coming back from Prismas we decided to stop by San Miguel Regla. The town has a nice little jardin and the biggest attraction is a former hacienda from 18 century that today functions as a hotel. We took a (self guided)tour around the hacienda (50MX per person). The hacienda grounds are pretty big, there is a river and a lake and a lot of diferente constructions serving today as rooms, conference rooms, or restaurant. Strolling around provides a nice window into the life in 18 century but also a sense of beauty and serenity.

We came to see the Primas and came across this hacienda and decided to stay. We were so happy with people, that architecture, the grounds, the room and especially the good. I am from the USA and can’t wait to come back again.

Beautiful grounds, terrible room. Smelly and old, ripped carpet. the only difference between a standard room and suite is a dirty, old loveseat. No chairs in the room. The walk to get to our rooms took 8-10 minutes. It was dark and rainy on slippery cobblestone. Saw one-man stumble even with a flashlight. We got lost twice as there were so many dark winding paths with no signs. Will not be back.

The Hacienda has stunning views and what is most impressive is how little noise there is on the grounds. There are a series of paths and walkways around the grounds offering views of water, courtyards and some wildflife.

While there was not an opportunity to stay and evaluate the rooms and service, the grounds, views, wildlife and experience was quite pleasant.
