Beautiful but neglected hacienda

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Feb 2018via mobile
The hotel is created in a huge land that used to be an hacienda back in the XVIII century. The place is breathtaking, surrounded by the forest and a lake, but...

1. We stayed at the biggest room available, a two floor with 4 beds, with 2 chimneys. Beautifully located in front of the lake, the bad thing, the showers in the bathrooms barely worked, the phone didn’t work and there was no light in one room.

2. We booked a massage session of 60 minutes. The massage therapist received 3 calls to her mobile phone, which she answered, and a knock on the door, which she attended... She shouldn’t have be distracted while she was in a session.

3. During the time of the year we went, the weather is very cold during the mornings and after 5pm, so the web page of the hotel offers 2 heated pools and a jacuzzi. None of the pools were heated because the heater was broken, so the water was freezing cold. Impossible to get into them.

4. There was no opened bar to get a glass of water, not to mention another kind of beverage.

5. The bunks by the pool were broken and so dirty with bird poop.

6. They have a game room with 2 pool tables, both of them were broken.

I wouldn’t recommend this place and I won’t be back for sure. Too bad because it is beautiful.

I was celebrating my first wedding anniversary. So, ,we decided to make something different. We went to an Hacienda (a large landed estate, especially one used for farming or ranching) usually they were used in the 17th century to host the spanish colonizers and exploit the resources of the surroundings. In this case, San Miguel Regla is a mining zone. The Hacienda was remade to be a huge and colonial hotel. The experience is so different cause you are staying in a historical place. The rooms are colonial and cozzy. Almost each of the rooms have its own fireplace. The food is really good. Its incluided in a buffet style. I had the beatiful surprise that the staff arranged and decored my room for my anniversary celebration.

Room tip: Ask for a Room with fireplace!

The best Mexican buffet ever, "mole", mushroom soup, corn fresh handmade tortillas, Mexican beans and killing margaritas!! Great place for a family visit. Amazing views, the river and lakes are awesome. Great weather. Minigolf, bikes, horses... All you can ask for to have a blast and enjoy a day or a week!

Outstanding place, the garden and the outdoor areas are perfect for pictures and a long walking sessions. Is kind of magical place I love the hacienda this is the main reason we decided to spend two nights here.
The buffet is great tons of option, fresh and delicious food. I'm vegan and I didn't have so much trouble eating well.
Expect tons of delicious Mexican food.
The bar was a little bit disappointing, kind of expensive and the cocktails were low quality prepared.
The rooms are comfortable, but freaking cold specially the Jan-March.
The staff was so friendly and kind I love the attention given.

It is supposed to be a 5 stars hotel, but it is really a fraud.
First, on the reservation I got a price and when I arrived, they doubled the price.
The rooms are very cold, dark and musty, with dirty carpet, even in sprig.
The hotel apparently is very comfortable and quiet, but is full of noisy partys, by neighboring haciendas and inside this place. There are a lot of screaming kids all day in any place, restaurant, pools and saloons. In addition, you could be the next to your room to a loud drunk. If you pretend change your room, may be you are "lucky" to got a worst place, but paying a significant monetary difference.

I'll never back again!

By the way, there are a lot of better places close to there.
