La Quinta Troppo's unassuming entrance yields way to a tranquil upstairs living room with a commanding view of La Ropa Bay framed by a palapa roof, expertly chosen and well placed Mexican artifacts, artisanal pieces and books. The effects piques the senses as it relaxes the mood.
This sensation is of calm intrigue accompanied me as I spied each room uniquely decorated to express Mexico's beauty. My favorites were the huipiles, shawls and necklaces displayed on some walls, a fitting recognition of Mexican textile art.
Each room opens onto a balcony - or is a balcony viewing the bay. The common spaces give way to views of the water, immersed in gardens with the rumor of water pouring from stone carvings into a pool.
The food was served in a patio encircled by plants -always fresh and beautiful invited me to each too much and the conversation to linger. The shrimp tacos, are not to be missed, but breakfast with homemade jams easily competes. Quinta Troppo's staff is a testament to the quality of ownership, with years of service, the smart and engaged Fran, Erica, Olga (and the rest) instinctively predict clients' needs and make for a wonderful stay.
