Second time here and a solid option for medium budget.

Rooms are clean kind of basic but all you need with tv and aircon.

Bed was comfortable and the hotel has 2 nice pools with great view.

Prices are very reasonable both for drinks and basic food.

Also has a great massage service on site for 20 dollars an hour, will come back.

I ended up going to Zihautaneo by myself and met my friends there. (They were staying at a different place right down the beach)
I was warmly welcomed and loved the waiters in the restaurant along with the young man that worked in the gift shop! Loved this little hotel!
Beautiful views and great staff! Wonderful breakfast and hoary hour!
Going back in a month, I loved it so much!
(Although if you need wifi in your room, forget it) ;)

Great place for a brief break in Zihuatanejo. View is breathtaking. Food at the little restaurant is really good. Super-friendly staff and manager. Nice room. Great pools. Good happy hours. What more can I say? Would definitely return if back in Zihuatanejo.

My husband and I loved the two weeks we spent at Hotel Irma. We've stayed in Ixtapa before, and this was the first time staying in Zihuatanejo. Good-bye to all-inclusives for us. We felt very welcome, were treated well by the staff, and will absolutely return.

We arrived as high season ended, so the restaurant wasn't always open on week days, except for breakfast. No problem. We preferred to try the many excellent restaurants just down the street, on the beach, or downtown. However, the best margaritas in Zihuatanejo are at the Irma and are also served pool-side. The pools, by the way, are wonderful, and the infinity pool has a stunning view.

The rooms are immaculate, and while fairly basic, they're comfortable and air conditioned. No refrigerator, but a styrofoam cooler works well to keep drinks cool. Ice is available at the restaurant or the mini mart down the street for about 20 pesos. We stayed on the pool level in Room 104, with a great view and a lovely patio. It's at the end of the building and there are only 5 rooms in this section, so it's quite secluded.

There are no elevators, so it's only suitable for those who can manage stairs. There are 82 stairs down to the beach, but we had no problem, or you can walk down the street a couple of blocks and turn down a side street to access the beach. The security gate at the bottom of the beach stairs is locked at 5 PM until 7 AM daily.

Irma is well situated for a 15 - 20 minute walk downtown, either via the street or the malecón along the beach. It's also about 20 minutes via the street to Playa La Ropa. However, we were mostly happy to stick to Playa La Madera below the hotel. If you're not into walking like we are, there is a taxi station located right out the hotel entrance.

Hint: If you're interested in reasonably priced tours, such as the Xihuacan Archaeological Site, Barra de Potosi, etc., I recommend checking with Jaime at the hotel desk. He worked mid-afternoon to evening shifts while we were there. I'd also highly recommend the hotel spa for reasonably priced massages. The spa is beautiful and airy. And Reina was an excellent massage therapist.

My husband and I have discussed staying in Zihuatanejo instead of Ixtapa for several years. Since we were traveling alone this time, we opted to stay at Hotel Irma. What a surprise! This quaint hotel is quite a gem!
There are only 60 spotless rooms. This is the first time that we literally "froze" at night from the AC. We had to ask for blankets.
This hotel has the absolute BEST view of the bay. Breathtaking!
Our reservation included daily breakfast. There were adequate choices and were always hot and fresh.
Although the restaurant wasn't open for lunch and dinner, appetizers were available at the pool. All were very good.
The only negative is the hill that has to be climbed to access the hotel. It is not for anyone with any walking problems. Of course, taxis are available at the door.
Try this hotel!

Room tip: All rooms have bay view. Choose one as high as possible for best view.
