“Good all inclusive in an amazing location”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

As far as all inclusive resorts go in Mexico this is pretty solid but it's stunning location in a natural cove, creating a private beach, with the backdrop of jungle covered mountains makes it an excellent choice for a break.

The positives; the beach - which is a nursery for manta rays that swim around you, the weather (of course), proximity to Puerta Vallarta, the ability to relax! Whilst we didn't need the services, the entertainment staff and kids club appeared well organized with lots to do.We stayed in the old building but paid extra of a balcony which was a smart move as we got he top floor and some amazing views. The old tower was absolutely fine, no complaints.

The negatives; I'm nitpicking but the food looks good but is normally fairly bland and uninspiring. The fish isn't fresh and I had to pick plastic wrap off my salmon one night. The seaside grill restaurant is outdoors with no AC or fans and with the high humidity i found it pretty unbearable. The Mexican restaurant was our favorite as it had the most flavorsome menu. The service is very inconsistent ranging from overbearing to none existent. I also didn't like the timeshare "sneak attack" when we checked in. They took no for an answer but the lady was introduced to us under the guise of "someone who will show to to your room" until we were taken to a quiet spot for the sales pitch.

The negatives are just a heads up and they by no way spoilt what was an excellent vacation to a very good resort destination.

This was my first time in Mexico and our first time at an all inclusive hotel. I came here with my boyfriend for a fun and relaxing vacation in late June.

Check In: We arrived at the Dreams Puerto Vallarta and were immediately greeted by someone who took our luggage and sent us over to check in. We were also given a cold towel and sparkling wine. It was wonderful. The check in process was easy and painless. No one mentioned time shares or bothered us to upgrade or anything like that. We were then approached by another person who spoke to us more about the hotel and gave us $200 worth of coupons. They were very friendly and also did not pressure us to purchase anything or use the coupons.
Hotel Room: Our room was in the Dreams Tower, not the newer Preferred tower. Even though the room was older, it was very clean and was perfect for the two of us. We had a beautiful view of the bay and the beach and had a nice balcony to enjoy the beautiful views. Our fridge was always restocked everyday with beer, juice, and water. We also never had to bother anybody about making sure they cleaned our room. Our room was always clean and we always received what we needed.
Service: Wow, the service was beyond incredible. I seriously cannot say enough about the service at this place. I've been to other hotels where the service is horrible. This was not the case at Dreams. No matter who you spoke to, the waiters, bartenders, maids, janitors, etc they were always smiling, friendly and willing to accommodate whatever you needed. It was wonderful.
Food: Everything at this hotel was wonderful. However, the food was so-so. It wasn't bad, it just didn't seem up to the same standards as everything else at the hotel. The El Patio restaurant was probably the best restaurant that my boyfriend and I experienced. There food was good and they have these amazing Oaxaca cheese quesadillas. The other restaurants were just okay. The World Cafe did have a pretty good lunch buffet.
All-Inclusive Package: The all inclusive package was so great. My boyfriend and I felt like royalty. We loved being able to go up to any bar in the hotel and order whatever and however many drinks we wanted. We also loved going to any restaurant at the hotel and ordering whatever we wanted, as well. It was really nice that we didn't have wrist bands or that there were no limits to when or how much we could eat or drink. There was also 24 hour room service if you were hungry at 2 am.There is only one buffet restaurant in the hotel, so you're not stuck with having to eat buffet food for every meal or even at all. That was great. There were also a lot of activities that were part of the all inclusive package like snorkeling, kayaking, boogie boards, jungle tours, etc. There was always something to do at the hotel. They also did a really nice job coming up with events in the evenings. There was a fire dance show one evening, a cool 80s cover band another day, and a bunch of other activities. We really enjoyed being able to do all that stuff.
Beach: The beach at the hotel is great. It's a private beach with great, clear water. There are also manta rays that swim around near the shore. It's so cool! We spent most of our time on the beach or at the pool. We loved them both.

Overall, Dreams is a great hotel and we had such a great time here. We had a wonderful vacation and would love to be back here again. We are definitely going to come back soon!

This resort was by far the best all inclusive trip!!! The service was out of this world. The food was amazing. We ate at the world café (which is buffet style),pretty much the whole week...it was that good! Manuel, The Apple representative was on his game. As soon as we checked in he made sure to explain how our departure worked and was helpful with our excursion. Las Caletas was a beautiful private beach. The food was ok. The sea lions was adorable!! Def check it out. One more thing, at the dreams resort...there are baby Monterey stingrays all over the ocean. They do not bother you. They just like playing in the waves. Please check this resort out...you will not be disappointed!!

My husband and I just got back from our trip to Puerto Vallarta. We spent 5 day/4 nights at the Dreams PV. We had never traveled to Mexico prior to this trip and had never stayed at an all-inclusive so we were not sure what to expect. When we arrived at the airport, we decided not to take the private shuttle from the airport to the hotel; instead we took a taxi which was about $25USD and was very safe and clean. It was about a 25 minute drive through the town to the hotel. The hotel was AMAZING! Upon arrival we were greeted with cold wet towels and two glasses of champagne. The hotel staff was very friendly! We stayed in the Preferred Tower in a Jr. Suite w/ Jacuzzi. The room was unbelievable beautiful! We were on the 9th floor out of 11 and had a spectacular view of the beach, ocean, jungle, and sunsets. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was great too! It had a Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower with a rain-like shower head. The air conditioning worked great in the room and there was also a de-humidifier that helped cool it down as well. The Jacuzzi on the balcony was great! We used it almost every night. The food was great! We order room service for snacks. We ate at all of the restaurants and really enjoyed the food. The buffet was the best option for breakfast. The food was very fresh! For lunch, we typically went back to the room to cool down and had room service and for dinner, our favorite restaurant was Portofino. Jose was AWESOME! None of the restaurants require reservations and there were no restrictions on how many times you could eat at the restaurants during your stay. They were all ALL-INCLUSIVE. We had read reviews of other all-inclusive hotels having restrictions on the restaurants such as requiring reservation, having to pay to eat at some of them or limiting you on how many times you could eat there during your stay. NONE of the restaurants have any restrictions like that. The Portofino is adult only, but the rest are not. We had a massage at the hotel spa while at the Dreams and enjoyed that as well. We also enjoyed the adult only infinity pool for Preferred Tower guests. The food and drinks on the bottom floor of our tower were great as well!

We only went into the town area once during our trip (to the Malecon) and enjoyed it! There were lots of cute shops and restaurants. It was a $5USD cab ride each way from the hotel to town, and back. The Presidential election was going on Sat. and Sun. and it was so amazing to see them lined up to vote in the city hall area. We felt safe however we did not leave the Malecon area. We heard a lot of great things about the flea market however we did not go.

Here are the downsides of the trip:
Coming from Southern California, it was a very big temperature difference. We have traveled to tropical places in the past and were warned about the heat/humidity in PV during this time of year. We imaged the humidity of Hawaii, but that is not the case. Please listen to people when they say it will be VERY warm and humid in June/July/ August. I also did not care for the amount of time share people in the area. You will not get bothered at the hotel about this but you will in the airport and in town. They are actually set up in the airport, behind desks when you are exiting the airport. They try to get your attention by asking what hotel you are staying at and pointing you over to a desk. Do not be afraid to keep walking at this point. We thought they were people from the hotels, maybe talking about shuttles or something, but come to find out, it is just about time shares. We also were not aware that we were staying during the Presidential election, during which alcohol cannot be served. We were disappointed that we were not notified of this when we made our reservation. It was not a problem at the hotel, however when we went into town, the area was not as fun as I am sure it is when alcohol is being served.

Overall, we had an amazing time during this vacation. The staff at the Dreams hotel is the friendliest, most helpful, and honest people I have ever encountered! Even though tips/gratuity was included in the cost of the hotel, we did tip on top of that. We NEVER felt that additional tips were expected however, we had SUCH great service that we wanted to! I absolutely would recommend staying at this hotel!! My husband and I cannot wait to return!

Hotel set in an astonishingly gorgeuos setting, surrounded by beautiful mountains and the Pacific. 6 star hotel if staying in the preferred tower, old tower needs to be restored. Food at Oceana and Sea Side Grill is excellent with great views. Service a bit slow. World Cafe breakfast buffet was excellent, lunch very average. Ambiance in the preferred tower is superb! Anyone who works at the hotel was very helpful answering questions and being with providing service. Coupons are basically worthless and was a little bit overpowered with them wanting you to take tours, listen to their loyalty rewards program, and wanting you to upgrade to the preferred tower. Great private beach. If I had known it was the rainy season I probably wouldn't have come this time of year, overall I would come back to this hotel! Didn't get to see a sunset :(

Room Tip: Preferred tower rooms are extremely nice, the old tower rooms need to be upgraded!
