“Good location”

So, so accommodations. Toilet leaked in bedroom 2 even after reporting it. Phone was down the entire week. No cable TV. Beds and couch uncomfortably firm. Ants in kitchen. Definitely not what I expected for $US500/night. Lots of stairs without handrails, so not a good choice for older folks. Lovely view of ocean and close to restaurants. Martha is an excellent chef, well worth having a couple of meals in. Overall, a good stay, but not a good value.

Management Response
25 Jan 2018
We appreciate these guests, as we do all of our guests, and thank them for staying. We also thank them for the positive comments.

However, I can't recall a review like this in some 15 years of renting. As owner, I'd like to respond to the comments.

Our Manager Joel is extremely responsive and quickly fixes any issues that may arise. He prides himself in that. He lets me know about all issues.

1. Toilet leak: We heard about the leak on Jan. 2. The guests departed on Jan. 2. The plumber fixed it Jan. 3. He would have come sooner, but it was high season and it took a day.

2. On the phone, a telephone pole was hit and the phone system was down in the entire neighborhood, and it was beyond our control. We apologize for that, but we couldn't control it. Cell phones would of course work.

3. We haven't had any problem with the Cable TV in many, many years, and didn't have a problem during this stay. Possibly the guest didn't know how to work it. We wish they would have asked. We'd have been happy to help. The Cable TV and internet service are supplied to us by the same company. The internet service was working, so the cable TV was working. The next guests who arrived the day these guests left had no issues with the TV. We're not sure why this is a complaint.

4. Softness and hardness of beds are a personal preference. We've had very few complaints on our beds (maybe 2 or 3 in 15 years). All beds in the villa have cushioned bed covers.

5. If guests leave sugar, honey or anything sweet on the counter, the ants find a way to get in from outside. We'd ask guests not to leave any food items out.

6. The rent wasn't $500/night, as mentioned. It was our busiest week of the year -- New Year's -- and was $423/night. We book it every year and guests are happy.

7. There are stairs in the villa. We've rented to people of all ages without a single complaint. If someone was disabled or had difficulty with stairs, we wouldn't recommend our villa.

We're sorry this guest didn't think our villa was a good value, but we have repeat customers who have come for years, who continue to come, and who are very happy with the value and in all regards.

Thank you.

My husband, our teenage sons, 12 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Nicte. The 3 bedrooms, each on their own floor (and with their own bathrooms) allowed all of us privacy. When the boys snuck out at night, it didn't even wake us! The sound of the ocean right outside literally rocked us to sleep at night. The sunset views over the Pacific are just gorgeous... The house is outfitted with all the luxuries of home from wifi, to washer/dryer, coffee pot, microwave etc. The small private pool on the living room balcony is also a nice plus! Marta, the housekeeper, is awesome! She speaks English very well, has great suggestions from restaurants to excursions and keeps the house neat and tidy, so that Mom's really can enjoy vacation! She is an amazing cook! Typing this review has me craving her delicious red snapper! Let Marta cook for your family, you won't be sorry! As for location, you really can't beat it, super short walk to the Malecon shopping and night life. The Casa Nicte owners are also a pleasure to work with. We would love to return someday!

“Sweet and funky”

In all our years of going to PV, we had never stayed in the Centro area. It was very fun to be in the center of the real old town of Puerto Vallarta. We happened to be there for Semana Santos, the week-long celebration right before Easter. There is a park about 3 blocks from the house where there were big celebrations every night with bands, dancers and fireworks. It was quite a scene and was truly authentic Mexicano! There was noise on the beach at night, but Mark and John have set it up so that you simply call 611 and that goes directly to the police and they take care of the noise.
The house itself is small, but very sweet. There's not really much comfortable furniture. We spent our days on the balcony watching the activity at the beach which was packed all day every day with families and tourists. The bathrooms have been remodeled and are very nice, although there is no door on the master bath.
One of the best things about staying here is Marta, the cleaning lady who comes every day for 4 hours, makes the beds and cleans the house. She is just great and so helpful. She arranged for us to have wonderful massages right there in the house.
Layla's, a wonderful restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner is a half block away, very reasonable with excellent food and drinks.
Mark and John, the owners, were great and quick to respond to every need.

Thank you for your review Randall! We're happy you had a great time at Casa Nicte -- and thank you for coming!!!

I do want to point out to future guests that our beach is normally quiet. Randall came during Easter Week -- it's a huge celebration in Puerto Vallarta. It's fun but can get noisy, especially the last 3 days of the celebration, and that's why she mentioned some noise (not normally the case, as you'll see in other reviews).

Thank you again Randall for staying with us! You're welcome back any time!

Best Regards,

John, Co-Owner

“Nice Beach Stay”

My family and I stayed at this beach house from October 29-November4, 2015. The home was exactly what we needed. It was close to everything from the grocery store three blocks away to the Malecon, which was three blocks in the other direction. There was very little noise from partiers due to it being Halloween and also from Day of the Dead celebrations, even with us being right on the beach. Marta, the housekeeper, is excellent and will work with you to make your stay enjoyable.
