It's our 2nd time to rent in this large condo building, and first time at this partcular 1 bedroom condo. Each unit has large and extremely private decks with beautiful views of the ocean and great sunsets. The location is very peaceful and quiet, right on the beach but is a little far from most restaurants and tourist spots. Taxis are usually available outside, a great bargain, $3 to $5 to get to most places of interest or Walmart for your groceries or liquor. Remember to ask the driver how much to get to where you want to go first. During the day time there is a water taxi (leave a small tip for driver) that takes you over to the Marina El Cid resort which has easy walking access to many restaurants or nearby bus service to downtown or The Golden Zone. And now to the unit itself: The unit IS is older, fairly well kept up and was adequately outfitted. We would have liked to have some extra small cooking provisions outside of just salt and pepper, however everything you need is sold at the small store onsight. (This little store also sells fresh squeezed O.J. and wonderful home made salsa and your 5 gal water jugs for each unit). The condo has a new Sony TV with great reception and news from Seattle TV stations too. Two comfortable DOUBLE beds and lots of hangers and storage for your clothes and stuff. Extremely safe and clean building, nice pool and hot tub. A good bar with a great bartending couple. Good restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, M/Wed/Fri with amazingly low prices and great food. Our one big draw back was there was no free Internet available except in the lobby (and rarely in the pool area). These units are all individually owned and each owner is responsible for installing their own WiFi. So if Wifi is important to you, then get a data plan on your phone before leaving home like i did. There is a Vonage phone in the lobby, great for emergencies and we used it a couple of times to change airline reservations. Also if this is your first time in Mazatlan the monthly magazine, Pacic Pearl is available in the lobby has a great map of the region. I would recommend this condo for couples, who want a peaceful vacation and want to get away from the touristy spots and don't mind getting taxis or public transportaton.
We enjoyed staying at La Marina Tennis . It is a little isolated from Centro and the Golden Zone but that made for a very quiet, peaceful and relaxing stay which we enjoyed.
The condo unit was spacious but does need some TLC. The unit was well stocked with many items that you would not find in most condo rentals. The beds were very comfortable and listening to the surf made for a great sleeping experience. The couch and chairs in the living room were extremely hard and uncomfortable when watching tv. The unit faced the ocean as well as the marina so it was enjoyable to have breakfast and lunch outside on the patio. The AC did not work, but was not needed most days. Keeping doors open helped keep the condo cool. The salt water pool was enjoyable as well as the hot tub. The beach was located right in front of the condo, only steps away. There was a once a week cleaning of the unit including changing linens and towels. There is a laundry there which can be used for a nominal fee.
The people there were very cordial but owners and regular renters tended to group together. The staff at La Marina were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good and quite reasonable to eat onsite. La Marina was a short walking distance to catch a bus to the Golden Zone, Centro or Cerritos.
We will definitely return to La Marina in the future.
