“poor service,charged more”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

Had reservation for EL CID castilla Beach for 1st and 2nd of April, stopped by Marina El Cid around 28th of march, gentleman at the counter verified my reservation and said no problem just show up on the 1st and he was transferring everything for our stay to marina EL CID instead at my request, never said anything about additional charge,on the 1st when we showed up,he lied and his boss Armando did not believe my wife and I,after wasting nearly half hour of our time ,we still got charged more than what our reservation $ amount was on my booking.com; the whole time I felt embarressed and uncomfortable, that is not vacationing, will never go back,Please do not waste your money.

I recently returned from Mazatlan, Where I stay at Marina which I have done for the past 4 trips as well, the views are beautiful in every direction day or night , your around the Cove so you don't have all the wind coming off the Ocean. The Most Important thing to me, and the people I come with is the Staff at the Marina they have ALWAYS been more then Pleasant to us and to be around, they have Always taken very good care of us and Honestly have bent over backwards for us with anything we have asked of them and anything they did not have or could not do they turned is in the direction of who was able, from House keeping,to the servers, the bellman, the front desk, and Honestly the most Enjoyable were the Girls doing the Activities at the pool, they were Very friendly, always smiling, were always nice to wake up to in the morning and to see them at the pool just the Positive Happy attitude made it Very fun, I have made some very good and close friends over the past 7 years or so just from staying at this Hotel, and are planning another trip in June or July of this year I miss them already, and can't wait to see them all again I wish I could go every weekend.

Room Tip: Bottom level pool side #125 126 or 127 Nice view of the Marina and the pool, Most Important right in...

The staff - reception, bell desk, housekeeping - were all very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the location with the view of the marina, boats and the ocean. Loved sitting on the veranda with a cup of coffee looking out at the boats! The grounds and rooms are well-kept and clean. Our room was spacious and the kitchen was well-equipped. It's relatively close walk to the main marina and there is a small market (Santa Fe) for replenishing groceries. We enjoyed beverages but didn't eat meals at the resort since there were so many Mazatlan restaurants we wanted to try. This was our first trip to Mazatlan and we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices for dinners. Two pools - one 'refreshing' and one warm & one hottub- volleyball in the larger pool is fun. Also the quick ferry to the beach. There is a small grocery on site which is handy. I like all of the iguanas on site! We would definitely stay here again if we return to Mazatlan.

Just returned from another two weeks in Mazatlan. Best time yet! The staff at the El Cid Marina hotel are the best. Treat us and our friends that came with us like family. This year we were able to be here during Carnival. What an experience.

We initially bought points in the time share in 2005. Have since upgraded twice and now have enough points to return for 8 to 10 weeks a year. Our two daughters will be headed down to stay next week.

Each time we stay we get to know more people better. It really is great when you are greeted upon arrival as a returning guest. Teracita, who initially greeted us at the airport on our trip October, 2010 has become a good friend and gives us advice on local places to visit, Rogelio and others at the front desk are very helpful, Fidel and Eddy at the pool bar will take care of you. Javier makes the best tequila shrimp at your table in the restaurant and goes out of his way to make your dining experience top notch.

All in all, can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: If you can afford it the presidential suites on the ocean end of the property are stunning!

My daughter age 9 and I just returned from a 7 day vacation to Mazatlan. I was quite nervous because of the recent publicity on crime incidents involving Canadians but i was very pleasantly surprised by how safe the city was and we had no problems at all. The Mexican people are warm , friendly and clearly love children. We stayed at the El Cid Marina with the all inclusive plan where we could play/eat at all the four resorts. This was a great deal. El Cid Marina is the newest of the 4 hotels and the guest rooms are large and very clean. We loved the two pools and hot tub. The food was excellent and neither of us had any stomach problems. I definitely recommend getting the all inclusive plan because food/drinks at the hotel was quite expensive otherwise. There is a number of restaurant included that you can dine at and we booked a different restaurant at the other resorts every night( Italian, Argentinian, Mexican) and they were all good. We loved the beach at EL Marina which was large, clean and no peddlars. The waves were huge when we were there and there was surfers playing in the waves. We didn't go on any of the organized tours but took lots of open air carts taxis to local attractions- Water Park ( this place is amazing and very clean/fun),Aquarium ( my daughter swan with sharks with trained diver- it was about $25 fee),, market/Catherdral downtown, water taxi over to Stone Island( an experience- only $2,50 round trip) and seeing the cliff divers(we arrived at 6 :30 and they were finished for the night so come early). The Staff at all the El Cid hotels were helpful and friendly. The El Cid Marina had fewer kids around and more seniors but we loved it. We have traveled to the South many times and this was one of the best, most relaxing trips we have ever had. I would go back in a second. It was inexpensive and every day was full of adventure. - Martina and Brenda Lee
