We also stayed at the Tesoro during the "convention".
From " this is one of the best all inclusives we've been to" to "holy ......" get us out of here" in the matter of a day.
Fabulous staff, it was great food and very nice rooms. However the hotel managment should be admonished for not controlling the 400 + unruly convention goers.
We felt so sorry for the service staff who worked 10 times harder than normal with no" extra" renumeration from these guests.
Under normal circumstances this would be a fantastic destination for travelling families or couples.
Hopefully the tour operators have some clout.
Love Manzanillo!

We have travelled a lot and seen a lot , but nothing like this. We were at Tesoro Nov. 6 to Nov 13, 2007. Our trip was through Airtransat. THe property is NOT 4 to 5 star, but is good value most of the time. We were then when the location was overtaken by a group of ex-junkies, gang members, hookers and alcoholics. I hear their trip was a reward for being clean or out of trouble for a year! Well, with lots of booze around and no security to speak of, they went off all the wagons. I have never seen such a rude, belligerent or harassing group in my life. The fact that Airtransat and the hotel sold packages with full knowledge of this event coming was totally unacceptable. I was not afraid or intimidated by these people, but there were many Canadians that were. I feel that Airtransat and the hotel owe each client compensation or at least acknowledgement that this was a mistake. We were without proper service or quality for three days as this group totally intimidated the staff of the hotel. I hope that everybody that was there will harass Airtransat to be compensated for their loss of valueable vacation time. As for the hotel, the rooms were ok, the food was fine and the staff (when available) were just terrific. The property is just fine, but this situation needs addressing.

My first all inclusive holiday and what a disappointment! On the 3rd day there a group of "recovering alcoholics/drug addicts/ex-gang members & their families arrived. Apparently this was paid for by the government for having been "clean" for 1 year. What a JOKE! These folks took over everything and were very intimidating to say the least. MANY were drinking & I actually got pushed out of the way at the bar. This lasted for 3 long days out of my 1 week holiday.

A group of us complained and had a meeting with the manager. No compensation of note was given to us.

A HUGH disappointment and terrible management.

NEVER AGAIN!!!

Stayed here in Feb. of this year--was great--went back in November & will NEVER return. Group from jaudalahara were brought into the hotel (400??) and allowed to take over--terrified some guests, were not controlled by security, did as they wished and totally destroyed a weeks vacation---Manzanillo again??sure--but NOT the Tesoro, unless they get new management.
TERRIBLE---NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!

Our stay at the Tesoro Hotel in Manzanillo was great!

I'd recommend it to families AND younger people.
I went with my parents and older brother: ages 22,24,41&43.

When we first arrived check in was fairly quick. The girls at the front spoke fairly good english (one was fluent) there was a mix up with the rooms but that was somewhat quickly taken care of (we went from the 18th floor to the main first which was great!!)

The rooms are a fair size, didn't like the pillows, the bathrooms were gorgeous (marble) the only thing that we didn't like was the loud fridge in our "first" rooms.(which was taken care of as well with the move) There is a safe in each room which you choose your own password. We left trinkets like candles etc. as well as a one dollar tip on the beds everyday (and an extra dollar in the fridge for extra beer... teehee) when we came back the maid made a swan out of one of the towels with actual flowers (hibiscus) on it for us, very clean rooms and the 'fridge' people stocked up our fridges including extra beer!!! (Corona of course)

The beach was great, but make sure you get there somewhat early otherwise you won't get a chair! The sand is SUPER hot, no walking around in bare feet (I burnt mine running to the bathroom!!!) Half the beach is shared with the locals but they keep to their side (we get the good side anyways hahaha) there are a few huts to buy souvenirs from on their side of the beach, you'll have to haggle with them! The water was beautiful, warm (verrry salty of course), some days the waves were a little rougher than others but it was fun. You'll most likely be approached by a friendly and trustworthy local (can't remember his name but you'll know him from his signature hand shake lol) he'll ask you to book a tour with him instead of the hotel, he'll show you pictures of where you'd go snorkeling and to see the elephant rock etc. His tour is cheaper than the hotel is. We booked one with him. There was free beer loud fun music (shakira, bon jovi etc.) his boat is smaller than the hotels, but it was fine. The fish were amazing! Indescribable! You have to try that out! Fun Fun Fun!

The breakfast buffet was excellent (mmm fresh waffles...(watch out for wasps... they didn't sting anyone while we were there))the lunch buffet was fantastic (all different types of food!) dinner buffet was great as well (they have sushi too!) and you can also book your dinner at one of the Mexican restaurants in the hotel or the Italian restaurant on the resort under the grass hut which was really nice with the sunset right there!

The cab ride uptown to the mall passes a beautiful golf course only a few minute drive and $2.50 from the Tesoro air conditioned cars, mostly Nissan Sentras. Some of the cab drivers drove a little erratically but we survived. lol

The entire time we were there, there was not a cloud in the sky as soon as the sun hits the pool area (which yes, includes a swim up bar!) it was intense (wear lots of sunscreen) around 9 am it came out and hit us. Warm warm weather. Just beautiful. The service was great and the maids, the town people were somewhat polite as well. Just remember to tip!
