The Santiago peninsula is removed from Manzanillo centro and the port - which is a good thing. The Peninsula is home to many condos, hotels and private homes. La Punta is a high end gated community. Las Hadas is a condo/hotel, has a marina, and many good restaurants. A great condo complex is El Faro at the top of the hill. It has fabulous views of both bays and is known for its beautiful vistas and sunset views. There are no time share salespeople in Manzanillo and it is not anywhere as touristy as PV or Cancun.

As you turn into the road that circles the Santiago Peninsula you will find middle class condominium projects, hotels of all stars. a beach. Within the beach there are eating area, jet skis, boat rentals and sighting by boat around the area. There is the Hotel La Hadas which was the setting of the movie "10 "with Bo Derek and Dudley Moore and the home of female braided hair..Manzanillos claim to fame!.The end of the Peninsula houses a mature development called LaPunta loaded with million dollar homes. Take a trip around the peninsula . Its worth it

Have travelled extensively in MX and otherwise. This is the best. Don't tell anyone. Climate, atmosphere, and yes it is safe! No problem! Many Canadians as we really do seek out the best. There are to timeshare salesmen, in fact there are no salesmen on the streets or the beaches.

The Santiago Peninsula is an excellent place to stay because it gets you out of the traffic and noise of Manzanillo, which is the biggest port city on the Pacific coast of Mexico. There are a lot of good restaurants on the main drag and more out on Playa Miramar beach which is fairly close.

The peninsula is close enough and far enough from amenities you will want. A car is almost a necessity unless you are in great shape and have the stamina for walking in the sun. There are three nice, calm beaches. Only Audecia gets busy on Sunday's. Counterintuitively, the higher you are on the peninsular, the better. The breezes are wonderful. I live here in the winters so perhaps I am biased, but the cono I live in, El Faro, is well run, in good financial shape, secure and a 10 minute walk or 5 minute drive to many beaches.
