From the exceptional reception to the lovely villa, pool and the wonderful staff...simply amazing!
Beautiful view, liked the water side restaurant...although it's only open on weekends. Breakfast also wonderful (and included in the rate). All room details are not only beautiful, but exceptional. The architecture belds so well with nature. The spa was a wonderful experience, too just like the resort. The Nespresso machine and daily fruit very welcome! The yoga class excellent.
As others state this is a very quiet, peaceful place...not a party, meet up type resort....no beach, no golf..but who needs it with the sheer beauty here.
Only disappointment was the fancy restaurant...our meal was below par and we did not try it again.

Room Tip: room 607...ocean view worth it!

This is a truly lovely hotel. It is more designed for a couples and a romantic experience rather than for families with children. The reception view is spectacular, the service… not so much. My husband made our reservation after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. He was so impressed that he booked us immediately for a long weekend. Now, I am NOT a beach lover…. And was, at the beginning, disappointed with the idea of traveling to Acapulco, not only because I don’t like the beach but also because Hello! Acapulco????? But we flew down there and boy was I surprised with the installations and the views of the Hotel. Like I said before, the service…. Not what I expected. The receptionist was a bit rude and had an aggressive attitude….. She acted as if she was making us a favor while she made our check in. Our villa wasn’t ready and she told us we could have a villa with a less impressive view if we really needed to change our cloths or… wait three hours for the villa my husband had already paid (an oceanfront villa) Needless to say we decided to wait.

The hotel is located at the top of a mountain, way far from the crazy crowd of Acapulco. It is secluded and private with beautiful landscape around the villas, pools, restaurants and spa. The food is exquisite at ALL restaurants. We were a bit scared after reading a review on the Thai restaurant but we loved it! We also took note and reserved the Amapola villa and it was perfect for us. The private infinity pool at the villa was always at just the right temperature. The oversize tub had an amazing view of the ocean and our bed was beyond comfortable. The only two concerns with the villa were that the doors did not function properly during our stay and the TV could not be connected to our ipad even when the technician came to our villa to resolve the issue. We were not too concerned with the TV although the doors were a problem because we were locked out twice. The staff did try to change the door’s battery but were never successful at resolving the problem.

Back to the good news, the staff at the spa was very professional. We had one of the three hours specials and we both enjoyed the treatments. We highly recommend their services.

This is a special recommendation for international travelers; we highly recommend that you book with the hotel pick up service from and to the airport. While the hotel is very safe, secluded and just 15minutes from the airport do yourselves a favor and don’t venture too much out of the hotel alone. We were told by another couple at the airport that some thugs stop them at a crossroad and stole them more than 400 dollars. Any thug can spot a foreigner in Acapulco. Just be careful when leaving the hotel premises.

Overall, we recommend the hotel. This is a five star hotel with room for improvement on their staff services.

Given the high expectations I had upon arrival, it's hard to believe they were exceeded, but in fact they were in every way. We arranged pick-up at the airport with the resort. Manuel was there to welcome us, as well as provide bottled water and cool hand towels as he drove us to Banyan Tree. We had an oceanfront villa that we enjoyed tremendously. Hearing the waves crashing on the rocks all day and night was a remarkable sound.

There is no way to convey the beauty and tranquility of this resort. I was so impressed by the attention to detail in development of the site and architectural detail. Banyan Tree has an in-house firm that does their amazing design work. If you’re looking for a resort that is party central, or has lots of activity options like golf or tennis, this may not be the best place. I was looking for a place to relax and reconnect with my wife, and the peacefulness of this resort and their philosophy is geared towards just that type of thing.

Can't say enough good things about the staff. They are there with great attitudes to attend to every need. Diego and Jose served us incredibly at breakfast and lunch several times at La Nao. Christopher helped us with drinks and tapas. They were always willing to take time to answer our questions about Mexico, Acapulco and lots of other things.

The amenities in the rooms are wonderful. The staff refills the ice buckets twice each day. Each room has a nespresso machine, which a coffee lover like me values. The internet wi-fi was strong and stable. Our villa had excellent privacy so that you can enjoy the ocean views with the blinds open and not worry about others seeing in. The private pool was just the right size and temperature.

Manuel took us on a day-long tour of Acapulco. As a life-long resident he had such a thorough knowledge of its history. It also is necessary to drive between many of the major sites. He was a terrific guide who treated us like a friend in showing us his city.

Our final evening after dinner, we returned from dinner we found that the sheets had been changed to satin sheets, and that with rose petals they wrote "Happy 35th Anniversary". On the desk was a bottle of wine and glasses, surrounded by a heart of rose petals. There is a lot of concern about security and safety in Mexico. Don’t let that stop you from experiencing this remarkable place. The location is isolated and very safe.

We stayed last year at Banyan Tree Cabo Marquez, and this time we came to celebrate my wife's birthday. I thought that my experience was going to be extraordinary as it was last time's, but it wasn't, it was way better! That is why I'm writing this new review.

We stayed again at our beloved Suite 607 "Amapola", as I already explained, this is to our taste the best suite, with the best views.

Ricardo Suarez welcomed us personally at arrival, and congratulated my wife for her birthday. I have to say that Ricardo had a lot of great details to us during this trip. Most of the staff members we met, knew it was my wife's birthday and greeted her accordingly. The first night we went to La Nao for dinner and there we also had a special occasion.

The following nigh we decided to go out for dinner at Harry's in La Isla shopping centre. When we entered at Harry's we met Ricardo Suarez exiting the restaurant, he greeted us and asked us how were we spending our vacations. He recommended Harry's as it's one of his favorites. We never mentioned to the restaurant that it was my wife's birthday, but at the end of our dinner, the staff approached with a cake, candles and singing "Happy Birthday" to my wife. The manager said that this detail was due to the request from Ricardo Suarez to pamper us for the special occasion.

What a nice gesture!

I'm waiting to have the excuse again to visit Banyan Tree Cabo Marquez, it's indeed a paradise!!!

Room Tip: By all means Suite 607 "Amapola" has the best views.

The Banyan Tree in Acapulco is an excellent alternative to many of the overcrowded, noisy hotels and resorts in Acapulco. My husband and I have left other hotels in Acapulco because there was no control over screaming guests at the pools and the constant hounding by vendors on what some hotels claim is a "private beach." It was literally impossible to relax at all. The Banyan tree is the exact opposite. It is focused around peace, tranquility, relaxation and privacy - which is exactly what we were looking for. Also, the spa in the spa pool villa can be easily converted to an extra bedroom - which gives couples the perfect degree of privacy if you have children or another person accompanying you. For me and my husband it was worth paying extra for this 5-star resort because we wanted 5-star results - and that is exactly what we received!

Room Tip: For those on a budget, they have great deals and the "valley view" is actualy a view of th...
