What a fantastic house. This is our first time to San Felipe. Booking this so easy on TripAdvisor. Although after arriving and talking with the property manager at mysanfalipevacation.com
We quickly found out that we could have booked through them for a much cheaper rate. The same house or equivalent we could have rented for 2 months what we paid for 10 days booking through Trip advisory. "Lesson learned"The grounds keeper met us at the main entrance of El Derado Ranch and we followed him directly to the residence. He gave us a quick tour of the home and we were on our own. We quickly discovered that there was no tv service which they said there was. Lucky for me I brought my kody tv stick. IThere is internet but it's so slow, we were having difficulties uploading pictures to Facebook. Also the floors hadn't been cleaned in awhile, there were coffee stains in the kitchen floor, and spills throughout the house. We took the time to correct this, and found a mop and pail. Under the kitchen sink we were looking for some cleaning products. There we saw a cockroach scurrying away. The showers were clean. However the water temperature is different to control. We'd get hot water for a few minutes then it would go away when it came time to rinse off. Wait 3 minutes and it was back again."weird"
Did a load of laundry half way through our stay. Got our clothes clean but the dryer was toast, couldn't get it to work. Draped the clothes and towels over the fence and was dry in 20 minutes. Probably quicker than the dryer would have done anyway. The appliances in the kitchen worked flawlessly. Has a gas burner counter top. With an electric stove tucked into the island. However absolute no hot water at the kitchen sink, made it difficult to clean up after meals. The coffee pot was my best friend in the morning. It worked great. I would sit on the roof and watch the sun come up over the Sea of Cortez. In the evening the sun would set behind the Sierra Mountains. Just beautiful. There is an incredible amount of things to see and do here. At the main entrance to El Dorado Ranch, you can pick up an event calendar. Something every day of the week. There are 2 pools here, the mountain side pool it's a where the regulars seem to congregate and the ocean side pool, quieter and more relaxing I found. Will be coming back in October for 6 month stay. No more ontario winters for me and my gal.
Just a couple of quick points there is local shopping just like at home in San Felipe there is a Calimax grocery store. Way cheaper than at home. Also would have been nice to have a couple of chairs for the beach. There were a couple of chairs in the garage but one was broken and the other wasn't appropriate for the sand. A word to the owner or property manager. Might want to take some time and repair the hot water on demand units. The covers were off all of them. And the kitchen sink faucet sprays water every were. The AC ducting on the roof is in desperate need of repairs. Gaping holes at some of the seams. Sure it's not helping the AC unit.
