This was my 3rd visit to La Paz but my first time at the Hyatt Place. Previously I had stayed at the Costa Baja but the rooms are too small and i don’t feel that it’s value for money.
Check in at the Hyatt was easy and I mean really easy. I was checking in a group and it was very quick and stress free.
The rooms are a good size, contemporary and well appointed. I don’t usually like a shower over bath but it’s new enough not to look out dated. The shower pressure was a little low (perhaps it’s better on lower floors).
There’s a good sized couch in the room which was great for families with kids.
The highlight of these rooms are the beds. They are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. So good that I could have easily over slept. The pillows are great too.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again when I come back to La Paz however there is a little room for improvement as follows:
The breakfast is ok. Nothing special but it’s nice that it’s included in the price.
There’s no face cloths in the bathroom.
Only 1 bottle of complimentary water per person per day. (We only had 2 bottles between 4 people on the first day)
The pool is small and shallow.
The gym is small and has limited equipment.
We also paid extra for a marina view room which mainly looked over the car park and the boat yard next door. Other members of our group looked over the pool and the sea without paying extra for their room. The upgrade wasn’t expensive but if you pay for it check the view first before accepting your room. At the Costa Baja we paid for a pool view room that looked over a stair well with no pool in sight.
Like any hotel the Hyatt Place has a few areas to improve but overall it’s a nice well maintained hotel with efficient staff that still has the new feel.

This is a nice newer clean hotel at the second marina. It is about a 10 minute ride to town but is a nice location. Also next to another hotel that is more a resort. Everything was nice and the staff very pleasant. Can’t beat it for the cost.

We arrived April 5 to April 14 2018.
Everything was exceptional including the location as it is perfect for relaxing. It is also wonderful to walk to the Marina and to visit the other restaurants. The staff were friendly and professional at all times. The complimentary breakfast was always great and the free shuttle to the Malecon was an amazing service to have. Our room was spotless and the lounge chairs provided for by the pool are very comfortable. We definitely look forward to coming back.

The rooms in this hotel are modern, clean and large, and include a seating area. The hotel is located on the waterfront and has a view of La Paz bay and the marina. It is located a few kilometres out of town towards beautiful Balandra beach and the Pichilingue ferry terminal. The hotel provides free shuttle service to town and back, departing from the hotel on the hour.

Breakfast is included and is more than ample. Our experience on weekends is that the hotel is very busy and noisily buzzing with guests. We have been here a number of times now and have enjoyed the location, its staff and the amenities. Special mention to Carlos who assisted us this time at check in and managed the shuttle bus on occasion. You should definitely consider this hotel on your next visit to La Paz. Definitely good value for your money!

Room Tip: Away from the atrium ocean view!

Stayed at the La Paz Hyatt Place for 5 nights. We came to swim with the whale sharks, dive and relax. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were comfortable and beds exceptional. We were placed in room #140 which has an ENORMOUS deck that looks over the Marina and into the bay. Nice bathroom, great housekeeping, no complaints; except.....

One evening maintenance started outside the door to our room at about 10:00 PM. We finally called the front desk at about 10:30 and asked if there wasn’t a better time for them to work on the renovation next door. After a few minutes the noise stopped.

The other thing that I found confusingly humorous was some issues at the breakfast. Day 3 of our 5 day stay the jam for toast was gone and forks were hard to come by. They did still have honey and maple syrup; although we never saw any French toast waffles, or pancakes during our entire stay. Day 4 of our stay the bread ran out so no toast for breakfast any longer but darn if that honey and syrup didn’t promptly show up, also, no forks. (Thus begins the humorous confusion.) Day 5 of our stay, no toast, no jam.

I decided to mention to the front desk that there was no bread at all for 2 days now and no jam for 3 as well as a shortage on forks. The day manager spoke with me and explained that they have a supplier for the bread and jam that hadn’t come yet. I suggested that maybe they walk to the store (which I walked past everyday) and pick up some loaves of bread. The day manager explained that if he did that then they would have to pay for bread to two different places. A little dumbfounded I offered that maybe the cost of a few loaves of bread to provide their guests with toast was in the end a small expense. Don’t think he went for it - after all in a few days someone would be bringing them more bread on the truck with the other food items.
