While at the Hotel Marina i was looking for a manicure/pedicure. I called in advance and spoke to the attendant that answered and asked if they did mani'/pedi's. She spoke to me in Spanish - all the while i tried to speak in Spanish - but they did not speak in English and therefore thought they could not. The woman said 425 pesos for a SHELLAC pedicure. When i went in i was escorted by a woman to a corner that had no professional pedicure station but a small round low basin bucket (you wash clothes in). Now i don't mind simple...... but when you get simple you should pay for simple. Then i was told that they would do a gel polish not shellac (I like shellac because it lasts longer). They insisted. I acquiesced. The pedicure was not very well done, and i'm sure will only last a few days to a week before there are chips. However when i went to pay i was told the pedicure was 650 pesos! I was shocked and said - "that's almost $44 CDN! - you quoted 425 when i called" - she said i had to pay extra to get the shellac nail polish off. Now i specifically requested shellac on the phone and not at any time was there any mention of 'extra charges for the removal of said polish'. But to add insult to injury - when i paid, she started to speak in English. So not only was i taken for a fool - but also made to feel like one. No courtesy or consideration. DO NOT GO HERE. I now have an infection on my right index toe as the woman cut the skin and painted over it. There are many good places to get nails done. This is NOT one of them. Also - they have a similar name to a spa in another hotel. Choose carefully and do not go to this one.

Room tip: Go to another hotel.

Marina hotel is most probably the best choice of the hotel in La Paz. Hotel has real Mexican spirit, spacious rooms, beautiful view on the marina through the big balcony doors, it’s very clean and quiet. The only negative aspect that we could see was the lack of a night lamps, coffee maker (or at least hot water kettle) and small refrigerator. The hotel restaurant is very nice and cozy with a view of the marina and Sea of Cortez. Buffet breakfast contains traditional Mexican food but you can also get full continental breakfast, fruits, yogurts, pancakes, fresh juices, really good coffee etc...
If you go for a fishing trip with Baja Pirates (who works with the Marina Hotel and has their office located on the hotel premise) the fish that you catch can be prepared for you at this restaurant.
Even though most of the staff do not speak English they are very friendly. Massive thank you to Marisol, great manager of the hotel restaurant and to Sergio, the best waiter I’ve ever had! They go beyond what is necessary to make your experience unforgettable.

I truly recommend this place and I’m definitely coming back there next year :)

I booked the hotel for two nights to relax after a round trip. The pool could not be used because of refurbishment. The garden could not be used because of dust and noise from construction-works. The spacious rooms were once nice but need some refurbishment. The panorama window could be opened only when present cause it lead to a corridor were all other guests had to walk to reach their rooms. Instead of a nice sea brize I had to use the noisy aircon at night. The hotel is situated about 3 km from La Paz Center. Good for one night on a round trip - or you wait some time until the refurbishment is finished ...

It was unfortunate that we booked this hotel not knowing that it was under renovation. Rooms not up to par and pool was closed and being renovated. We still had a wonderful time because all the workers at the hotel were so nice and helpful, especially Roberto, they all went out of their way to help knowing the property was being worked on. Beautiful setting and walking distance from everything (if you’re a walker) at a good price.

We stayed about a week here. The staff, friendly and polite. The room was clean. Every room in our building had a view of the harbor. The rooms were air-conditioned and comfortable. This is not an upscale facility but truely adequate for most people. The weekends are louder, with music and activities. Otherwise we found it quiet during the week. The restaurant staff were very accommodating and polite. The breakfast buffet included Mexican dishes as well as made to order omelettes and pancakes. Fresh juice and fruit were available along with yogurt and cottage cheese. We rebooked a short stay already.
