We didn't end up walking much on the malecon but, did spend a lot of time on the store side which is still opened. Much of the street and sidewalk is being worked on as crews install new pipes, sidewalks, parking areas and wheelchair approaches. They are evidently completing this in very large sections and they are working into the evening to try and complete this work.

The malecon did not look like it needed replaced and I'm guessing that this project was driven by the replacement of underground utilities i.e. water, sewer, & power.

Most of the restaurants are opened but, a few have taken the opportunity to remodel interiors during this time. Some stores are completely blocked making access impossible but, none were stores that we needed entry.

Overall, the construction was not a big problem during our stay. It's good to see the La Paz economy support a large construction project like this.

Did a day trip to LA Paz.. their street are under construction .same as San Jose del Cabo. Walked the Malecon a few blocks it was a very warm day and just need to get out of the heat. With the other side of the street pretty much not walkable. we did not stay very long. But do enjoy the sculptures along the area.
May nice restaurants and shop around this area.

The Malecon is being upgraded at the moment and so is quite a mess and noisy with the renovations (they seem to work all hours!). However, it is worth the cruise both during the day and evening when there is often a spectacular sunset over the bay. There are some interesting sculptures on the beach side...

Major project underway to widen the Malecon and provide more parking. So of course the whole strip is a mess. But they’re moving fast and pouring concrete overnight. They might actually make their December deadline.
