Great customer service, very clean nice rooms, really nice view from the roof/pool area. The bathrooms are clean and modern. Its a short walk to everything and the underground parking was convenient. Everyone spoke english which was helpful since my spanish is not very good. I was very happy with this hotel.

For the price, this is a 5 star hotel (subtracted 1 star because although their breakfast buffet is lovely, the dining here is way below average for the area). The hotel is a few blocks from the beach, and in a perfect area for walking to great restaurants. I highly recommend eating at Sorstis.
It's a very new hotel, and the rooftop pool area is lovely with views of the water. The open courtyard is a great place to have your breakfast or meet up for an evening chat before journeying out past the beautiful cathedral to explore. Each spacious room has a patio or small balcony, the air conditioning and water pressure are great, and there is a small refrigerator and coffee maker provided.
The area is just being discovered by tourists, so it doesn't have that totally commercial feel to it. You can book day boating excursions, swim with sea lions and whale sharks, and have lunch on one of the many "private" beaches you come upon. That being said, do be cautious about the recent uptick in cartel violence. The local police are now reinforced by the Federal police, so don't be shocked if you see trucks driving around with mask wearing men manning large guns. I was just there this month, and upon returning to the marina following an idyllic day boating around we were treated to the sound of automatic gunfire a few streets over.
I will definitely return to La Paz, but will be careful with my planning. It doesn't seem as though the cartels are targeting tourists at this time, and surely if someone from La Paz was watching the reports of violence in the US, I am sure that they would be even more cautious about planning a trip here.

Room Tip: Some rooms have balcony's with a close up view of the Cathedral.

Hotel Catedral has been one of the best hotel stays of my travels. I cannot recommend highly enough and hope they will continue to maintain their humility, friendliness, and price point, even as their popularity rises.

Room: Clean, bright and open. Comfortable beds and spacious, modern bathroom with huge rain shower.

Grounds: Equally immaculate as the rooms. Even with an open-air atrium, the seating areas are clean and pleasant. All aspects of this hotel are modern, further juxtaposing its location adjacent to the Catedral. Of course, the rooftop pool is spectacular. Tons of lounge seating to soak up the Baja sunshine. Rooftop bar with excellent service (bring cash).

Neighborhood: About three blocks back from the malecon, where families, locals, visitors all stroll, gather, eat. Along the same street as the bus station, from which you can catch the Autobuses Aguila and move all throughout BCS. Right beside the Catedral, which is worth a walk through and a look at night, illuminated. I wandered all throughout the surrounding streets as a solo female traveler and never once felt unsafe or ostracized.

Service: The staff was incredible. They were friendly, showing every guest directly to their room. Loved meeting the rooftop bartender as well! Breakfast (complimentary/ included) was phenomenal: authentic and healthy. Don't miss the chocolate milk in the atrium (Toto, it's not Nesquik chocolate powder). Staff at breakfast spoke less English than check-in staff so try your best, even if you have broken Spanish. They were kind and helpful, all the same.

Final thoughts: The price here is right on point. Don't skip on breakfast. Stay more than one night and really enjoy the public spaces, both inside the hotel and out.

Room Tip: You can't choose a room, but if you can get a fourth floor room, you're on the same level as the pool!

Really great experience here. Very friendly staff, hotel is well located a few blocks uphill from Malecon, many good restaurants are walking distance. Bed is very comfortable and rooms are very clean. Nice pool too.

Honestly I can't imagine staying in a better hotel in La Paz. Great staff, spacious room, super clean, and the breakfast buffet is absolutely excellent (best pollo rojo all trip)! It's a few blocks from the Malecon, but that's easily walkable, and there are tons of great places to explore between the hotel and the boardwalk. This hotel seemed like a good place for every type of traveler -- there were business types, families, couples, and solo travelers who were all very much at home. I'll be dreaming of going back one day!
