When we first pulled up to the hotel, I was hesitant for a minute. I wasn't expecting the rooms to be as nice as they were, for Mexican hotels. The outside of the hotel needs a remodel, but once again the rooms a very nice. My only complaint is the Wifi. I was not able to go online, very slow. The location of the hotel is perfect. One block away from the harbor and right in the middle of downtown. Nice restaurants and night life. Perfect location. We took advantage of the "fast pass" to cross the border. Only waited 30 minutes to cross. My parents both love the hotel and said that where they want to stay next time we go down to Ensenada

Hello,

We are glad that you were pleasantly surprised with our nice rooms! We have been working hard at remodeling the property and it shows. And you are absolutely right that our facade also need a facelift, and we'll get there! We have focused on the rooms/bathrooms where our clients spend most time :)

My apologies with the internet, it definitely has been an issue that has been tougher to resolve then we would like. But we continue to work at it, and create the best customer experience we can for our clients.

We were fortunate to find parking right next to our room, which was on the first floor, and we didn't move our car at all and the car was safe the whole time we stayed there. The location is prime - it's in the middle of everything so there's food and shopping all within walkable distance. Nothing was ever more than a mile walk away: entertainment, alcohol, food, tourist attractions, Starbucks, etc. BUT - because it's close to everything, it's loud at night and the walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbors yelling.

The room itself has a classic feel to it, though it was small with little walking space so we spent a lot, if not all, of our time on the beds. I would definitely spend more for a nicer and spacious hotel. I think this place did the job for us since it was so close to everything. The hotel staff were all friendly, courteous, and did their job in a quick manner.

The Wi-Fi worked well when it wasn't spotty.

The worst part was the bathroom! Luckily, I brought a candle, because the smell of the bathroom made me brush my teeth outside in the living space area. It smelt like a dead animal. The shower would leak after someone showered and there's chipped paint in the edges of the wall.

Overall, this place is not a 5 star hotel but with the price we paid, it was fine. It definitely did the job but the smell of the bathroom makes me not want to come back at all.

Hello,

Thanks you for taking the time to review us. I'm very surprised and concerned for what you mention regarding the bathroom, they have been recently remodeled (last year to be exact) so there shouldn't be issues, especially the awful odor you describe!!

We'll look into it for sure and fix it, and we hope you will come back and enjoy as you said our unbeatable location. Returning for a quieter fall weekend is a guarantee that you can enjoy the fun without the noise as we are not on the main road. And if you prefer larger rooms, we do have balcony rooms and suites that are more spacious.

Whether you give us another chance or not, we hope you keep enjoying all that Ensenada has to offer.

Kind regards,
Jb

My wife and I made a mid-week overnight trip to Ensenada from Los Angeles. We very much liked the location of the hotel from which we walked almost everywhere. Our encounters with the staff were positive. Check-in was OK. The young lady appeared to be a little overwhelmed with our questions regarding recommendations and directions. The experienced gentleman who handled our check-out was courteous and knowledgeable.

The room was clean and charming. We excitedly discovered that a door at the back of the closet opened up onto a mini balcony. Unfortunately, it overlooked trash bins, but one could see a little of the city and the hills. There was no refrigerator.

We stayed on the 2nd floor. Rooms are accessed by a outdoor veranda style walkway overlooking the parking lot. It was a Thursday night and we went to bed around 10:30. It remained quite noisy outside on the walkway almost until midnight.

Also several reviews here recommend "asking" hotel staff for the Fast Pass. We learned that it is part of a package which cost $20 more than our rate from Booking.com (referred to by Trip Advisor). We had already planned to cross at Tecate after touring the Valle De Guadalupe (which we highly recommend) anyway, so it was not an issue for us.

Finally, we struggled with connecting and maintaining wi-fi connections.

Hello,

Wow! What a thorough review; we appreciate you taking the time to rate us and would like to thank you for your recent stay.
We are glad you enjoyed your stay and most importantly your room. For future reference, we do have other rooms with bigger balconies that overlook the street, the mini balconies you refer to were really just for smokers.
My apologies for the noise, with summer we get quite busy and vacationers aren't always so quite and respectful of other guests :(

Glad you enjoyed our beautiful wineries in the Valle, we highly recommend them as well, and next time you can book direct with us and ensure your fast pass.

Hope to see you soon,
JB

Went down to attend a funeral and wasn't sure where to stay. We drove through the tourist part of Ensenada and found this hotel. Besides the beds being a little hard, this hotel was find for our 2 night stay. It was close to everything we needed. It needs a little TLC which we could see they were working on. Would most likely stay there again.

My husband and I stayed here last Saturday and Sunday night. It is more of a charming, vintage style motel, with car parking in the middle and the rooms in a horseshoe shape around it. It is very clean, safe, and, as others have noted, in just a great location. We easily walked to restaurants, bars, & shops. The front office staff were unfailingly polite, friendly, and helpful. They all speak English and yet were happy to indulge our high school Spanish. My tips:
1. The hotel is very busy on Saturday nights. Ask for a room near the front to avoid bar (located in the back) noise.
2. The included breakfast is literally around the corner & pretty good. It includes 1 cup of coffee but does NOT include the plate of pastries they bring to the table. They're cheap but still, FYI.
3. When you check out, ask for the fast pass to get across the border. THIS IS THE CRUCIAL PART: also ask for the step by step directions which include excellent photos so you know HOW to get into the correct lane.
4. If you can, avoid returning to the US on Sunday night. 4 hour waits at the border are normal. Instead, take advantage of the Posada's very inexpensive Sunday night rates, spend the night, have a leisurely breakfast, and then head home.

Hello,

I absolutely enoyed your thorough and very organized review! Thank you for your recent stay and for pointing out our strenghts. The staff really enjoyed working in the industry and I believe it shows, and our philosophy of providing great customer experience is felt throughout the property. You are absolutely right in that this property was originally built as a motel, and we have worked hard at changing it around and continue to work hard in our remodel of the romos, and the public areas.
You give excellent advice regarding Sunday night discount, and we obviously think it´s an excellent way to avoid traffic if you can.

We look forward to having you over soon.
Kind regards
JB
