nice place. good food. limited waiters who, although funny, were slow and service took a long time. as previously said, captive audience, as not much else there, so I don't think they make much effort

Simple sandwiches and beers served by a waiter who could pretty much care less. Unfortunately, this is the last stop on the Italian side of the pass - very disappointed. They have a captive audience and could have done so much better

The food and service is outstanding. We love this hotel and will return soon. The area is historical, and there is much to see and do outside. It is seconds from the famous hospice.

After crossign Switzerland we were in an urgent need of a good cappuccino.
We first tried the restaurants at the colle on the Swiss side, but they did not seem to have an appetite to serve customers, and the terrace didn't have much of a view.

So we continued on, and saw this place: Great terrace overlooking the colle and travellers up and down: good view on the hussle and bustle of the bikers and the cyclists.

The coffee was served with a smile, which made us order another one. And come back on our way back home.

If one day, in summer, You'll have to drive from Italy to Switzerland, You could cross the border trough the mountain pass of Colle del Gran San Bernardo.
If so, it's worth dining and spending a night at "Restaurant & Hotel Italia" enjoying a typical dinner in the stillness and silence. The restaurant is open also for lunch but the ambience is totally different, especially during sunny days, full of tourists in a hurry, cars and motorbikes all around.
The day after, before continuing Your trip, You should find time for visiting the hospice on the Swiss side with the famous and lovable Sr. Bernard dogs
