“Good location, well equipped (except for wifi)”

Good village location, although pity there was no view. All equipment expected was there, and it was nice to have 8 of all crockery & cutlery even for 2 of us. Comfy bed, plenty of hot water.
Décor and furnishings a bit tired; linen could do with being replaced very soon .
Biggest disappointment was the wifi, which was unusable despite us complaining. It would receive emails but not send them, and would only get one or two websites (why Facebook?).

Judith, thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. The older bed linen has now been replaced and none of the linen in use currently is more than a year old. Regarding the wifi - there was a temporary network outage which caused a temporary halt to the service, which is obviously beyond my control. John, cosy-retreats.com

“Comfy, Warm and Clean”

This cottage was just what we needed, a cosy and quiet place to relax. All the linen was included along with soap, cleaning materials toilet roll, most important after a 5 hour trip!!
The cottage was very clean with good mattresses and very well equipped with crockery and cutlery, far more than four people would need which was great.
We had a super service from the owner when there was a slight problem, we highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a bolt hole for a week on the superb coast.

Our two small dogs loved it too...at no extra cost, bonus!!

“Superb cottage in a great location!”

We had a wonderful stay in Snowdrop cottage in June - it was clean, tidy, and extremely well equipped with crockery, kitchen utensils, cutlery, cooking equipment, washing up liquid, hand wash in the kitchen as well as the bathroom - we were short of nothing! The beds were clean and comfortable, and the heaters extremely efficient when it turned a bit chilly in the evenings. We had some lovely meals at the Greys Inn ( only a few minutes walk from the cottage) very reasonably priced, but there is also the hotel, an Italian restaurant and the golf club within a short walking distance. Embleton beach is a short walk away and is just AMAZING!! There is a bus runs thro' the village too if you want a break from driving, which runs between Newcastle and Berwick (X18) via most of the coastal towns and villages, and of course Alnwick! Lovely place! I can't wait to visit Snowdrop cottage and Embleton again - highly recommended! Love it!

“Perfect for all our needs with the opportunity to buy beautiful artwork too!”

The accommodation was just fine for all we required, complete with family quizzes, games and other entertainment for the children. The accommodation was a bit small but for the length of our stay it suited us well. Would definitely recommend. The highpoint was the opportunity to buy beautiful pen-and-ink drawings of local sites and scenes as excellent prices. A lovely holiday retreat.

“Value for money, but not 5 stars”
Reviewed 25 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Whilst I agree with other reviews in the main, I feel I need to point out a couple of things, to explain why I haven't given a 5 star rating.
We took 5 different gadgets with us (phones, laptops, ipad) but the only device which would actually connect to the WiFi was the ipad. All of the other android ones did not ever link up. It's worth knowing that the actual router is in the next-door-but-one cottage with just a receiver in Snowdrop. This was very disappointing to me.
The cottage was very well-equipped which was great - not just 4 of everything which you sometimes get. However I wouldn't call it 'spotlessly' clean as places like skirting boards needed more attention, and there were quite a few cobwebs and dusty areas.
Because the cottage is located behind a pub with no outlook it did drive me a bit stir crazy to be honest. It just felt dark and a bit claustrophobic.
Good service from Cosy Retreats and it was good value for the money.
I loved Embleton - it was quiet, friendly and the beach was stunning!

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. You'll be pleased to hear the minor wi-fi issues that you experienced are now resolved, as we have installed a new BT Smart Hub that provides excellent wi-fi coverage in the cottage.
