“Best place for honeymoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

Me and my husband went there for our honeymoon this February, we fell in love with Kuredu! The staff made us feel very special (although there must have been a ton of other honeymooners). Food, facilities, everything was great! Highly recommend the sangu villas, i was s bit concerned reading other reviews but i can't think of a better place to be. Amazing sunset view, having all the fishes coming around the house, it was great! The other nice thing that came with the sangu villa was the fact we could use all restaurants in the resort which brought some variety . What we also loved was that although resort was 100 percent full, we never felt it was overcrowded or we had to queue for food or anything... Before going to Kuredo we thought it was going to be a once in a lifetime thing but we loved it so much that we want to go back there soon!

Dear Anna,

Greetings to you from Kuredu Island Resort and Spa,

We thank you very much for choosing to review your honeymoon holiday with us. It gives us great pleasure to note that you enjoyed Kuredu so much that you would love to return back for your next holiday in the Maldives. it would be a great pleasure to welcome you back.

The Sangu Resort has an ambiance that is so very unique largely due to the geography of the island. Being at the western end, walking on the sand spit when the sun goes down is a mesmerising experience by all means. We are happy you could enjoy this.

We are also happy to note that you could utilise the other facilities very well. As the resort is designed to offer variety to our guests, you have experienced Kuredu as a whole.

Team Kuredu wishes to thank you yet once again for the review made on us.

Warm regards,
Chris Nargunam

Went to Kuredu the first 2 weeks in December & had fantastic weather. It did rain a few times during the night & there were a few night time storms too. We stayed in a water villa & it really is the best accomodation on the island, it is amazing the sea life you can see from the deck, whereas if your sat on the beach you cant see the rays / sharks / fish that go by, also the reef by the water villas is great for snorkelling, even swam with a few turtles there. My biggest concern was the food, however this turned out to be a huge surprise & there was a fantastic choice for all meal times. We both had a birthday while we were there & we had a superb meal in the a la carte restaurant 'The Beach' the food was really very good, I was suprised to get such fine dining in the middle of the Indian Ocean, our birhday cakes were a lovely touch too. Franco's is very good too for pizza. I tried both spa's and they were fantastic, especially the hot stone massage. I did 2 days scuba diving & the team at the prodivers centre were excellent. Overall every single person made our stay special. The room boy Ibrahim, our waiter Hasan, the Sangu staff Shamil, the spa staff & the prodivers staff. Well worth the free sunset cruise, nice to do something different for an hour. My only small complaint was I thought the cocktails should really be in with the price of the AI holiday. I would love to go back to Maldives & even to Kuredu. Emirates great airline, booked through Thomas Cook, great service from them too. Any questions please ask.

Room Tip: Water villa all the way

We have recently returned from Kuredu and have attempted to complain to First choice (Thomson) about certain apsects of the holiday we paid for. The answers to most of the issues we raised were complete waffle or quotes from the brochure which had little or no relevance to the questions asked.
So I suggest no one pays extra for a beach bungalow as ours had trees in front of it then a shallow murky lagoon and then the water villas, not quite the outlook we expected when we paid extra for a BEACH Bungalow.
We also raised questions about the restrictiveness of the AI and the coffee and tea situation these were not answered satisfactoraly just put back on the resort.
I would suggest before you book with First Choice you are certain of what you are going to get, quite obviously the better the level of accomodation the better the restaurant and bar options, by better I mean a Beach Villa or above anything Bungalow will put you on the wrong side of the Island from the great beach and the bars. Do not make the mistake of upgrading as we did it is a complete waste of money.
The Maldives are a beautiful location to visit, this Island is also, it is the tour company and money grabbing attitude that spoilt this trip.

Our Dear Guest,

Greetings to you from Kuredu Island Resort and Spa,

We very sincerely thank you for the review of your holiday with us. We are very sorry to note that the holiday was not to your expectations though you loved the island.

We cannot agree with you enough that the information made accessible to our potential guests before deciding on the holiday package is of utmost importance. More so taking into account it is a long haul destination.

It is precisely for this reason that we take care to publish all relevant information on our own site, in addition to the web sites of partnering tour operators. We are aware that the all inclusive package includes varying components differing from destination to destination and even within one destination, between resort and resort.

The unique selling proposition developed for Kuredu is the amount of options offered to serve a wide range of guests. Right from the guests who wish to be on their own, to the guests who wish to spend every moment in activities; from guests with simple budget, to the guests with comfortable budget. Our aim has been to lead our guests to pay only for those that they desire and wish to enjoy.

Therefore, at the resort we believe that our partnering tour operators provide all these information, so that our guests would be able to make a well informed decision. We are extremely keen on this factor as it is this that would lead our guests to have a pleasant holiday with us.

We earnestly thank you once again for expressing your thoughts on the holiday, as this would help us to explore the avenues to mitigate them.

May we assure you that your next possible holiday would be more enjoyable and pleasant. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Warm regards,
Chris Nargunam

Overall: Great time at the resort.
Rooms: We had a beach bungalow and it was nice. Not über luxurious but loved the peace and quiet and also the outdoor shower and toilet which no one has to be worried about as is still private!
Masks and snorkelling equipment: You have to pay for them at the resort. Something like 30 USD (sorry don't recall the amount) for about 3-4 days. You can still use your own equipment but the rental is good quality (Mares).
Food: Good food overall with plenty of variety. If you visit this resort and generally other Maldives resorts pls opt for all inclusive as a la carte is ridiculously overpriced like USD80 for a steak. Lovely touch was that every night they had a Maldivian corner with really good local fare and it was almost always the best.
Entertainment: Don't expect a lot. There are some bars and the staff pull some nights together but you mostly want to go out have a drink under the really clear starry sky.
Sea & beach: AMAZING!!! Crystal clear. Powdery sand. Fantastic fish for snorkelling - you will be blown away. Even saw sting ray and manta rays swim like 2 meters away. Nothing scary for sure and I am usually scared of these things.
Snorkelling trips: Highly recommend them! Staff are amazing, take care of you and take you to a ship wreck which is awesome.
Staff overall; Incredibly polite and smiley. Please tip them on your way out of the island. They rely so much on tips. Especially at the restaurant you will likely have the same waiter.
Transport: You need air. Trans Maldivian Airways takes oh you there with their float planes. Safe & fast.

Dear Alex,

We wish to thank you very much for your very honest review of your holiday in the Maldives.

We are happy to note that you at large enjoyed the resort and it's facilities.

We wish to add one more 'thank you' for reviewing the resort by it's facilities. We are sure this would be of great help for those surfing for information.

You have well commented that the best thing that one could do having traveled so far to experience Maldives, is to enjoy Maldives - sitting out on the beach sipping a drink under the stars, enjoy the local cuisine for your meals, and similar.

It gives us a hope that we will have the privilege of welcoming you back on Kuredu for your next holiday in the Maldives.

Thank you very much and warm regards,
Chris Nargunam

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

We returned to Kuredu last week of March, first week of April 2012, booked through Destinology, for our 31st Wedding Anniversary. We had such a lovely time last year, we scrimped and saved to go back this year!

Flew Emirates from Manchester on the amazing two deck, Airbus A380, which was a great start to our holiday.

Landing at Male International Airport is a bit grim, especially after the efficiency of Dubai. There are long delays at immigration with little in the way of a smile or air-con. Although a new airport is scheduled to be opened in 2014. The seaplane transfer was very quickly arranged and we were on our way to Paradise

Expectations were very high, but we were not disappointed! Weather fantastic, Food high quality and huge variety, All Inclusive drinks are fine. Had an "O" beach villa again, which we requested on the lagoon. OBV 320.

We used the Spa more this year and really enjoyed all the treatments and pampering, which we felt were quite good value. The staff throughout the resort are excellent, really helpful and speak excellent English, many of whom recognised us and welcomed us back from last year!

The Tips:
Villas have British 13 Amp sockets, 240V, so that's handy, no adapters required.
Travel light, Nobody wears shoes, you don't need a jacket at night. We used the excellent laundry service for a few things on our second week. Each of us had only 14 to 16 kilos of luggage which was plenty!
There is free Wifi in one of the main bars and for $5 you can get 3 hours in your villa.
Snorkelling is brilliant, even if you've not done it before. You get a free lesson and then can hire the gear for the rest of your stay. Amazing sights in just a few feet of water on the house reef. The turtles are easy to find, reef sharks (vegetarian species our host told us). Fish of all shapes, sizes and colours. We don't dive, but people we spoke to raved about the ProDivers set-up at Kuredu and said it was the best location they had ever dived in!

All in all another great holiday in Kuredu Island Resort and Spa. Not a cheap getaway, more a memorable, faultless, life-fulfilling fortnight in this paradise. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: The "O" resort is aged 12 and over. So better for couples. We suggested to the management...

Our Dear Guest,

Greetings to you from you home in the Maldives - Kuredu Island Resort and Spa!

We are more than happy to note that Team Kuredu met your expectations, though you thought they were high - thank you very much!

The 'O' Resort has a very unique attraction to couples and we are happy that the concept has been so very well accepted.

Yes, the Airport Authority have a large vision to develop a very high quality facility for tourists by 2014. As the work progresses more and more facilities are being extended.

Having decided to return back to your home in the Maldives, we look forward to welcoming you.
