the small plates allow you to share...you should order and extra pasta to cover any seafood needs/the absolute BEST dessert in any restaurant is the 'Flourless Chocolate Cake"...it is a beautiful, satisfying chocolatey taste with some grand marnier added for that extra bonus...servers are friendly and knowledgable and helpful to make suggestions regarding flavour and portion size. we'll be back...if you are celebrating a birthday you are in for a booming spectacular surprise :)

We went to Emril’s for a birthday dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and had a lively atmosphere. We were greeted and seated immediately for our reservation.
While they don’t have a large wine list the list should satisfy most people with some high end and lower end wines. We also appreciated the open kitchen design where you can see your food being prepared.

However, if you are going to a restaurant its about the service and the food. The kitchen failed in this regard. It took over an hour before we even got our appetizers, While this might be fine in parts of Europe where 3 hour meals are typical, this is not what we were looking for. We tried the avocado toast, which was quite good and the Brussels sprout salad which was also very tasty. The salad is a bit of a cop out. For the Caesar salad they throw lettuce down, not chopped, and drizzle some dressing over the top. We don’ recommend it. The entrees finally came out after another very long wait. If you order the cauliflower expect to get the whole head, again uncut. The fried eggplant smelled and tasted like fish. Perhaps they use the same fryer and the person who ordered it found it inedible. The other entrees wee good, but nothing special, though the chicken dish was better than average. Lastly, and a reason for a full one star reduction in this review, was dessert. We ordered the gelato. After beginning to eat it a very long hair was found in the middle. It was a fitting end to a below average experience.

Blame rests squarely on the chef for mismanagement of the kitchen, the lackluster prep and of course quality control. There were many times were saw people standing in the kitchen doing nothing. I have never run a kitchen of course, but I do know as a business owner when things are not firing on all cylinders and this is the sad case with Emril’s. While they are still relatively new by now they should have worked out these kinks. The manager did stop by and apologize and offered us free appetizers on our next visit and of course we did not pay for the dessert, and we will likely give them one more shot, but it will be a long time before we go back again.

Made a reservation for dinner prior to a movie we had tickets for. When we arrived there was vomit at the front door and a wet floor sign partially covering it yet making it difficult to get the door open. The vomit had been there longer than a few moments as we saw the wet floor sign when we passed by to park. Upon entry the hostess was extremely rude and condescending. Since we arrived early we decided to browse a few shops while waiting on our table. Noticed there was a Fleming’s near by so used our Landry’s rewards to make an immediate reservation. We were greeted warmly by the host staff and didn’t have to pass over a pile of vomit to get in the door. Doubt we will attempt another visit to Emerils.

Not worth it. Overpriced for serving size and quality of food. Foccacia was about 3 inches in diameter. Hubby's pasta entree was a rather small serving. I had grouper special. Fish was tasty, but plain. Black eyed peas and okra under were cold, okra mushy. Couple small potato slices were hard and refrigerator cold inside. Beure blanc was congealed and cold under the fish. Pleasant atmosphere visually, but way too loud with only a few people dining. Excellent service, though. Staff is obviously well trained for a high end restaurant.

Emeril's new restaurant is definitely worth the visit. Make a reservation as even in January it was packed. Great service, good wine, and great food. Portions are large. Share appetizers. There are seats at the kitchen counter. Great addition to Destin dining.
