“spectacular place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2012

if you are near rock sound and you have a car, you can't miss this place. It's a bay with immaculated sand and crystaline water. Ten year ago a hurrican destroyed the ventaclub complex and so this part of the beach is still uncleand and messy. Besides that this remains a great place to visit and to sunbathe because the currents coming from the ocean aren't able to get inside the bay, so the water is calm...but still a bit chilly.

“An Atlantic side beach that offers some protection from wind”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2011

Winding Bay is accessed from the road by the Shell Station on the southern edge of Tarpum Bay. Take the road to the end and make a left at the Y junction. Follow the sand road around to the end. There is a stop on the way if you want to try that instead.

What's interesting about Winding Bay is that it is not reef but grass beds. If you are snorkelers you may want to see what difference there is in sea life. I myself saw sea turtles.

“great beach for roaming”

We visited the very north end of this beach. It was great for beaching combing, snorkeling and sea life. Saw multiple sea turtles.

“Great for travelers who like shallow water or have young children”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2009

Winding Bay has a lovely sugar sand beach and is very shallow for hundreds of yards. The water is crystal clear. It is ideal for families with young children as there are also some trees which can provide a bit of shade. It is the perfect place to see enormous sea stars & sand dollars. If you shuffle your feet when you are in water that is waist deep, you'll find dozens of sand dollars right at your feet. Since they are alive we observed them and threw them back. We also found (nymph?) box jelly fish which had no stingers. When the tide went out they looked like glistening diamonds as they reflected the sun. Some say there is good snorkeling to the left as you face the ocean where there is an outcropping of cliff rock. We did not find this to be the case, plus the waves could throw you against the rocks. This is definitely a better beach for lounging verses snorkeling. When the winds are not strong you can float on a raft in almost the same spot for hours. When the tide does go out it becomes an open play area for frisbee, running, etc... Note that (like all the beaches in Eleuthera) there are no facilities of any kind. I
