We stayed at the Wyndham from March 25-April 1. We had a wonderful time. Folks need to realize that in the islands you are on "island time". That means it will get done when it gets done :). We initially did not get adjoining rooms, but by the second day they not only got us adjoining rooms, but let us look at 2 room choices and pick which one we liked better.
The lunch and dinner buffet was plentiful and lots of choices. My picky kids didn't have any trouble finding something to eat. Tip for breakfast, either wait until they bring a new pan of scrambled eggs or get an omelet at the omelet station. For some reason they do not keep the breakfast food very hot. BUT, the omelets are made fresh and hot and she will also fry you some fresh eggs and give you bacon.
We traveled with 4 kids and they had a blast with the poolside games, nightly entertainment, and dancing in the dance hall at night. My son made sure not to miss bingo..........and he finally won. My husband won darts one day with what they said was the highest score they had seen!! The young adults running the games were very nice and cheerful.I was a little set back by the lady on the 70's, 80's night that had her briefs pulled up her bottom so far they looked like a thong.................they are briefs........you looked stupid.
Ok, here's my "suggestion" 95% of the staff was pleasant, helpful, and even entertaining. We LOVED Fredrick at the bar!! BUT, the serving staff at the special restaurants were cold, not engaging at all, and I got the feeling they were thinking "why do we have to served stupid Americans". Even though they were not busy, they said nothing but to answer questions about the menu, they served you your meal very quickly and then you never saw them again! Ladies........If you want a tip (which you got one anyway because my American husband is a server) smile, engage "where are you folks from", be happy!!!

All in all we are missing they Wyndham as we return \back to life in the Midwest and we wish we were back there.

We have been staying at the Viva Wyndham every year for the past 8 years and will continue coming back. Each year more and more renovations are being done to the property, and it gets better each year. The pool area, poolside grill and cabanas, beach chairs, main bar area, and main cafeteria have all been redone in the last two years. The staff is the most helpful staff you'll find, and always very friendly. Every friend and or family member we have recommended the Viva Wyndham to, has nothing but great things to say upon their return. Thanks for another great week!

Great piece of paradise on the south coast of Grand Bahama.
Huge beach with lots of 'tiki' umbrellas, all inclusive bars, restaurants & activities.
Staff was amazing especially Keith at the front desk! Housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless, and food was good. Bahama Mamas were awesome.
Only glitch was sometimes at the big buffets, the food is not piping hot, and the room did not always have ample hot water(could be due to the solar h/w system they have).
Will go back again for sure. May even look into the owner's club, through Wyndham.
Overall a very friendly place. Best I saw in Freeport area.

Room Tip: Rooms 2201-2203 have a great view but they are a long walk, if you don't mind that.

We were at this resort from April 10th to April 17th, 2016. After reading reviews we were not expecting much.. but it was good. Lets start with check in, yes it is slow but not that slow. You do get your rooms at 3pm but if they are ready before they will let you have them.

Staff is very friendly. Animation team is great. Strange that there was not 1 person on animation team that was from Bahamas... Food was good. Good variety, something for everyone, everything was fresh and hot. Carlos the chef made sure that everything at buffet was A1.
The a la carte were okay. Housekeeping staff did a great job. Our housekeeper was Tanya and she was amazing. We always had towels and everything else. Rooms were clean, plenty of hot water and a/c worked great. the only thing is that they only give you 1 small bottle of water and that's it. After that you either buy water at store or you have it refilled at bar. Bar tenders were fantastic...always smiling and ready to serve you. Even if you don't tip them, you get great service. Grounds are clean. Pool area is great, but you have to get up early to reserve your spot under an umbrella...I think that there are only 6 of them. There are 4 canopy bed loungers. The beach was good. But beaches are nothing compared to beaches in Cuba...weeds. There are plenty of chairs but again, not too many umbrellas. You can get chips, chocolat bars and stuff like that at the 2 little shops...expensive example: 1 bag of lays chips $7.56 we pay like 2.99 here. And for smokers, bring your cigarettes. A pack of 20 Malboro is $10.00. And that's everywhere.

Overall, good resort great for diving and relaxing. Would recommend it.

Room Tip: we were in room 3124. it is a little further and we were facing the gardens and is was nice and quiet.

We just came back from a week at this resort and had a wonderful trip. All the staff were very pleasant. The food was good and we enjoyed all the a la carte restaurants. The beach snack bar was always stocked with food. The resort was clean and grounds were pleasant. There was a little bit of work being done around our building but nothing that interrupted our stay. Having free WIFI was very nice.
The beach was beautiful and there were plenty of lounge chairs everyday without having to rush out and save them with towels. No matter what time we arrived at the beach there was always loungers. Water was wonderful and people could snorkel very close to shore. It was much more difficult to get a space by the pool. Even by 7:30am the loungers with the umbrellas were taken. We spent the week on the beech. My husband went sailing everyday, several times a day, on the small sailboats. This made his vacation. Also available were surf sailing, paddle boarding and snorkelling gear. Oh and you can even get WIFI at the beach.
The entertainment staff works all day and night. They were amazing keeping things fun, getting people to participate in tournaments and attending events.
This resort is the perfect size making it easy to meet people and the dinning area was never over crowded. The main bar area was ok but the seating was not as comfortable as the outside seating. We had great weather so the main bar never got really busy. Had we had a rainy day and everyone wanted to hang out there, there would not be enough seating.
The room was fine. Could use a little upgrading and we had no fridge in our room. It was plenty big, clean and bed was comfortable. The water temperature fluctuates from hot to cold so it takes longer to have a shower. There is a fifteen dollar charge to use your in room safe, which really should just come with the room. The biggest problem with our room was the ability to hear everything our neighbours said. The first night we had really loud neighbours that stayed up all night, they left the next morning. When the new neighbours came they were very respectable and quiet at night which we appreciated.
If this resort upgraded their bathrooms, furniture and got rid of the adjoining room doors (maybe thicken the wall too) this could easily be a 4 star. Lovely place and we would recommend this to our friends.
