All the dishes we ordered were either bland, over-cooked, or not fresh. The fried wantans were almost burned to a crisp and the stuffing was far from fresh. The vegetable chjow mein was overcooked and bland. The sweet and sour pork was disgusting and the sweet and sour chicken was not fresh. The waitress barely spoke English and her customer service was very poor.

this little chinese restaurant in port lucaya, close to the count basie stand is
cheap: lunch tree courses for $ 5;95
sweet and sour pork $ 7.95
the quality is not bad but it tastes not so good. if you have a small budget and do not need first class asian food then this little restaurant is good for you.
clean, quick and friendly service

A good selection of food and drinks. The food was reasonably priced and cooked well. Service was good. Good sized shrimp and decent portions. It is off the square just far enough to be a bit quieter and less crowded.

I agree with a previous poster that this restaurant has reviews for two different places under it and there appears to be confusion. The name says "China Cafe" which is a Chinese food restaurant found in the Marketplace and has excellent food and service. The picture for this review is of "China Grill" which is found on the Grand Lucayan resort and does not have Chinese food (it's burgers, hot dogs, fries, sandwiches etc.). China Grill I would only give 2 stars. They need to overhaul their menu, it is subpar, but the service is good. I have listed the pros/cons for both below.

China Cafe (located in the Marketplace)
Pros
Excellent Chinese food
Excellent service
Okay atmosphere
Low noise volume
Quick to get food
Reasonable prices
Good drinks

Cons
No WiFi

China Grill (located on Grand Lucayan Resort)
Pros
Friendly service
WiFi sometimes works from here, no password needed
Okay noise level
Nice location, okay atmosphere
Good drinks

Cons
Terrible food, they need to overhaul the whole menu to be competitive. We stayed at this resort but always left for lunch and went to the Marketplace
I've eaten here twice, once on our last trip to Freeport and once this time (always good to give second chances). The first time my husbands burger was pink so be careful. He had already eaten a big bite before he noticed. Luckily he was fine but it was scary as it was very pink/raw, not just a little. We had no issues like that this time, it's just that the menu/food is not good.

This review is for the China Cafe in the Port Lucayan Marketplace, not the China Grill at the Grand Lucayan Resort....I think there are reviews for both under this title. We stopped in the China Cafe in the Marketplace with the intent to stay for dinner, but it was so HOT in the restaurant itself that it was unbearable. We decided to order to go, but what a disappointment. This was the least flavorful food we've ever gotten. The chicken in the sesame chicken was so tough, you could not even bite it with your teeth, and it was covered with way too much sticky sauce. The chicken fried rice had NO flavor at all, along with no peas, carrots or onions.. And the crab ragoon and fried wonton were not like any we've ever tasted before. Save your money and find another place to eat in the Marketplace!
