This review is for the China Cafe in the Port Lucayan Marketplace, not the China Grill at the Grand Lucayan Resort....I think there are reviews for both under this title. We stopped in the China Cafe in the Marketplace with the intent to stay for dinner, but it was so HOT in the restaurant itself that it was unbearable. We decided to order to go, but what a disappointment. This was the least flavorful food we've ever gotten. The chicken in the sesame chicken was so tough, you could not even bite it with your teeth, and it was covered with way too much sticky sauce. The chicken fried rice had NO flavor at all, along with no peas, carrots or onions.. And the crab ragoon and fried wonton were not like any we've ever tasted before. Save your money and find another place to eat in the Marketplace!

We ordered a fish sandwich for lunch. The fish was basically all fried breading... Barely any fish!!! It was $16 plus the 7.5% tax and 15% service charge. Would not go back.

We stayed on the resort and tried this place for a quick lunch - bad mistake!

We waited what seemed an eternity for burgers and drinks.
Frozen patties shouldn't take that long to cook and it was our biggest regret eating here. The only thing that was supposedly fresh was the fish burger that I ordered, but even that I am skeptical about. Fries are not an option at almost $18/burger - you get a small bag of chips.
Service was terrible - our waitress was unknowledgeable, she didnt have a clue about the children's menu - it was very frustrating ordering that I almost got up and left! All the while I stayed calm and pleasant as ever, our waitress was very rude and curt.
As I was sitting close to the bar where the drinks were prepped, I also noticed someone's beverage not getting the appropriate amount of alcohol. Our waitress was making a drink and had 2 bottles pouring at once, but 1 bottle was empty. Instead of fetching another, she decided to just add more juice! Terrible for the person paying $8 for that drink and how rude of the waitress to do that!

It was late when we decided to eat at this location, so the restaurant was fairly empty. We ordered a combination dinner that more than served both of us. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the whole dining experience!
