Our annual family (16 members) vacation destination was the Baha Mar Grand Hyatt for 2024. We had great expectations, based upon the beautiful location and promised service, food etc. The standout positive experience was dinner at the Marcus restaurant … terrific food enhanced by exceptional service provided by Dom, our waiter. Beyond that, the food during a 5 night stay was just average. The service in the restaurants was lacking, and in some instances uncomfortable with a sense of staff being put off by our presence. In one instance, at the breakfast buffet, the server was accusing my nephew of attempting to sneak his two cousins into his table. He offered to present proof of payment by all members at the table (again we were a large group and the cousins wanted to sit at his table having two vacant seats), but the server rejected the offer, and rather chose to give him dirty looks followed by refusal to bring any drinks or clear any plates. We all shared stories every day about getting something other than what was requested- myself and my wife included. My daughter said it was to the point where she felt uncomfortable asking for anything. Understand, we all tipped very nicely on top of the 15% service charge included with every check. We understand that some of the people work hard, and deal with demanding rude people. We went out of our way to be friendly, patient etc. Sometimes it was met with friendliness, but more times than not, the attitude was not welcoming at all. We understood coming into it, that there would be a charge for everything (and boy was that the truth) but we expected it all to be worth it. In the end, we all felt like we overpaid for what we got. Not one of us felt like we’d ever go back (whereas we would return to the Atlantis) and we would never recommend the Baha Mar to anyone. They don’t deserve the business at any price.
