We had a late lunch at Bahamian Cookin' and loved every bite. For starters we had the conch fritters followed by the Broiled Grouper and the Snapper in Bahamian Gravy. Sides of plantain, macaroni and cheese, peas and rice and fries. Kalik Grand Bahama beer and a rum and tonic made for a tasty meal. It is a no frills restaurant, that knows it way around seafood...I'd go back every week if I lived in Nassau! Best red snapper on the island!

Local family restaurant. Mouth watering flavors. A diamond in the rough. Would never have found this without being on the Taste of Bahamas tour. Definitely would go back

We arrived as the restaurant opened for lunch and it filled up soon after with a large tour group. It took more than 30 min to get any food served. The menu offerings were typical to the other local restaurants with fried conch, fried grouper, fries, beans & rice, plantains, etc. Good but not great.

The ambiance sets the stage----a great "Island/Colonial" environment.
Attentive service-----Conch fritters were scrumptious----Rice and peas very tasty--
plantains lightly fried in syrup very delicious---light curried chicken was so tender!
Great tropical drinks.
A Must-Try Native experience.

We stopped at this resturant as part of a food tour and though it was one of the best. Bahamian Cookin, AKA Bahamian Kitchen, is proud to list itself as Nassau’s oldest and only true Bahamian restaurant and has been family owned and operated by three generations of the same family since 1986. We were served a local favorite, conch fritters. I have been waiting to try these since I heard about them many years ago and we found them to be very tasty. The breading was prepared so that the fritter was light and the bites of conch were tender and not chewy as one would expect. They were served with a simple sauce that gave the fritters an extra zing. We were then served a plate of food that consisted of steamed chicken, pigeon peas and rice, baked macaroni and cheese and Cole slaw. It was a great meal and reminded me of US Southern style cooking. During the meal, our guide came out with some conch shells and explained how the conch was harvested and also how some areas in the Caribbean were over harvesting and the Bahamas were taking steps to make sure that did not happen. He was passionate and we appreciated his presentation. As we left we were served a Bahamian Switcha which was like a cool refreshing lemonade. Much appreciated and very tangy! This place is a must if you want to get true Bahamian food!
