A few of us popped in for tea and coffee. We had scones with jam and cream, they were very tasty homemade.

Walked round a sizeable lake with a variety of ducks and geese. The walk continued through the woods... its quite steep. Pleanty of bird life to spot. Its a nice public space and if you're feeling the need of refreshment after your walk, theres a small but cosy cafe serving tea/coffee cakes and sandwiches etc.

Cyfarthfa Castle and Park are a very good day out no matter what your age. A walk around the lake with its swans, geese and ducks.A model railway for children to ride on. There are also well kept grounds and woodland walks. A very good children’s play area and cafe which are well kept. The Castle Museum itself is also well a visit. It has interesting furniture, paintings and clothes etc.. It has Egyptian artifacts collected by Colonel Southey whilst he served in Egypt. (However he didn’t note where he found them.) There is an old Welsh Kitchen in the basement. You also have a small tea room. The staff are polite and helpful. There is adequate free parking. All in all a wonderful day.

This is definitely the place to visit if you are a tourist who enjoys looking around great historical places of interest, as Cyfartha Castle has lots & lots of history of bygone days in Merthyr Tydfil.... right back as far as the Merthyr riots and the story of Dic Penderyn Great tourist attreaction!

Visited Cyfartha Castle for a day out with the kids, walked around the beautiful grounds on a beautiful sunny day. After walking around the lake we went on the small train once for the kids which they loved and had a picnic on the grass by a beautiful fountain.
The castle itself is very interesting we took a tour of the museum and really enjoyed everything inside. It was very interesting.
There are quite often different things going on here and we quite often visit for the fireworks on bonfire night.
A brilliant place to go for a cheap day out with the children.
