“St. Thomas, USVI”
Reviewed 17 March 2009

We had a great time in St. Thomas. Although we stayed on the other side of the island we did get to spend some time in Charlotte Amalie. It was so much fun. The best restaurant hands down is Tavern on the Waterfront. You can sit and eat and watch the sea planes and cruise ships all day and they have THE best cruzan rum drinks. St. Thomas was very beautiful and I only wish we could have spent more time there although we do plan to go back again someday, but we have lots of other exciting new places to visit first.

“Fantastic Villa in St.Thomas”
Reviewed 3 March 2009

We just stayed seven days in Magen's Fancy, a private villa arranged through caribbeandays.com. Wow, unbelievable, beyond expectations. Very private veranda and infinity pool 330 feet above and overlooking Magen's Bay. Two great bedrooms and an enjoyable sitting room, dining room and full kitchen. We canceled dinners out to barbeque and eat on the veranda. Just up the hill and around the bend from Sib's, the Cheers of St. Thomas. We were 10-15 minutes from the shopping areas, and five minutes from Magens Bay beach area. Warm and sunny during the day and cool breeze in the evening. The villa was a four minute drive down a private road off RT 37 and did I say very very private. I should be paid for writing this review. Caribbean Days were very helpful and the villa was a dream for us.

“Packing tips for families”
Reviewed 23 July 2008

Just got back from St. Thomas. I have 3 children 4, 6, and 8. Here's a few items to bring if you are in my situation.
1. Lotion sunscreen, a few bottles
2. Full sun suits for the kids and you if can make yourself do it.
3. birth certificates for the kids
4. back packs for each kid, let them carry their stuff
5. sturdy reef shoes
6. hats and sunglasses for everybody
7. rent a car
8. snorkel gear that you have tested out. I brought sets for the kids that had not been thoroughly tried. They stretched and let salt water in. We were at K-mart buying some more after the first day.(not the best source for snorkel gear)
9. underwater camera
10. Beach sheet(a lot lighter than chairs or mats)

“Scary place”
Reviewed 23 October 2007

I would highly recommend staying away from this place at night. I've seen people seriously hurt trying to portect their possessions.
Dont carry money, or wear jewelery at night.

During the day the place is beautfiul. Ships arrive bringing tons of people, shopping, excitement.

Get out at sundown.

“Shopper's Heaven in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas”
Reviewed 4 May 2005

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, capital city of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. The picturesque harbor is dotted with sailboats. Charlotte Amalie is a shoppers paradise. Literally hundreds of little shops grace the downtown area. Bargains galore can be found here including jewelry, linens, china, crystal, clothing, watches and perfumes. One of the more unique and best places we found to shop was Vendor's Plaza. We found very good prices on souveniers of all types, especially locally made items, T-shirts, tropical print shirts, skirts, etc. There are two cruise ship docks at Charlotte Amalie. Havensight Shopping Center, located at the main cruise ship dock, houses over 50 shops. There is a free shuttle you can take to tour this area. The main shopping at Charlotte Amalie where the greatest density of stores is located is along the harbor. This area is known as Dronningens Cade or Main Street. Just parallel to Main Street is Back Street and the Waterfront. In between these main strips are side streets and alleys filled with literally dozens and dozens of shops. The U.S. government allows U.S. citizens $1,200 worth of duty-free items per person. Omni Linens is one place where we picked up absolutely beautiful handmade table cloths, colorful place mats and other unique items. We had an absolutely fantastic time here and highly recommend this port of call.
