“Not worth the price...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

We stayed here from 4/7-4/14/12 with our three children (ages 13, 12 and 7). We had a family suite, ocean view, in the Italian Village. The room was very nice and very clean but only one bathroom and not much privacy. While the property was beautiful we found this resort to be well below 5 stars for the 5 star price tag.

While we did meet a few cheerful staff, majority of the staff were indifferent at best. Also, as mentioned by other reviewers, forget about getting chair at the pool. I went down at 7:00 a.m. only to find that all of the chairs were already "reserved" therefor, every day started off in frustration. Not sure how this can be remedied but it did not make for a relaxing vacation at all! We found the food to be hit or miss.

The water park was just "okay"-my kids were bored with it rather quickly. They also did not have any interest in the kids clubs at this resort which was odd since they love the kids clubs on the Disney cruise (again, I think this is directly related to the friendliness of the staff). When we took the kids to have a look at the clubs, we really didn't see many counselors and the ones that were around didn't even bother to greet or engage with our children.

We did get some beautiful family pictures on the beach but overall, I would say that this place was definitely not worth the steep price tag...would not return.

We stayed here the week of April 9th and had a great time. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. The beach was great and the water was warm. Spent most of our time at the numerous pools that were available. Our 3-year old son enjoyed the mini pool at the French pool. The pool at the Italian village was very nice, but very crowded. It was very hard to find any lounge chairs. The pool in the French village and Caribbean villages are less crowded and getting a lounge chair was much easier. The swim-up bars were a big hit with my son as well.

All of the restaurants were excellent. Never had a bad meal while we were there. The best buffet has to be at Mario's in the Italian village. Had a great dinner for our anniversary at the Le Petite Chateau, in the French Village. Easily the best meal of the week.

We stayed in a honeymoon suite in the Caribbean village. The room was very nice with a King size bed and a trundle bed for our son. The housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the room clean.

The Sesame Street influence was one of the reasons we chose this place. Our son enjoyed having breakfast with the Sesame Street characters and had his picture taken with all of the characters. He also got tucked into bed one night by Elmo. My son cried at the end because he didn't want Elmo to leave.

The daycare available here was very good and the kids seem to enjoy it. The staff is top-notch and make sure that the kids have a great time.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone with children of any age to stay. There are plenty of great places to eat. Even after staying there for the week, we never got bored with the place. We would definitely come back sometime to stay here again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

Our family just spent a wonderful week at Beaches. The food was great, the grounds impeccably kept, and the service was exceptional. We stayed in the Italian Village and stayed in a suite with butler service, which I highly recommend. Butler service offers the use of a poolside cabana, making reservations for dinner, and attending to other needs that arise. Our butlers, Hilario and Dane, were friendly and always attentive. They made our trip very enjoyable.

Room Tip: The suites in the Italian Village overlook the pool, with some overlooking the ocean. Just beautiful...

Beaches in Turks was a fabulous family resort! Beautifully maintained, decent food, friendly and helpful staff, nice room. waterfront/dive team was great - my husband and son went diving and said the dive trips were excellent with professional, experienced dive masters. we stayed in the italian village family suite - there were six of us (2 adults, 4 kids = tweens/teens) - a bit tight and need 2 bathrooms but overall, very nice and comfortable. Wish resort had better house wine and better coffee! but overall, great trip. favorite dinners were kimonos and sushi restaurant. we used Mark at TripGuy and he was fabulous, very knowledgeable and very helpful! highly recommend TripAdvisor!! Tripguy.com = Mark!

I am in the service industry myself. I understand that it is important to have satisfied customers. As a whole the staff (desk, wait staff) were passive aggressive. They seemed miserable and the occasional smile was forced.
The food was horrible. The beer / liquor selection is nothing special (miller, Budweiser, absolute & Smirnoff) we found one bar to have Guinness. You can pay extra for premium wines. Otherwise you can have house cabernet, merlot, white, which were not too bad). Nothing was fresh which was disappointing being right next to the ocean.
The shower water smelled like poop. Outside the Caribbean smelled like poop.
Despite all this I was very respectful and thanked everyone - greeted w ma'am and sir, with no impact.
In order to get WiFi on more than one device you have to purchase a plan with different password for each phone/ ipad and get "refunded" at the end of the week.
Upon departure you have to surrender your bags to the hotel bellman to hold in a room until your shuttle arrives. This doesn't seem like safe practice as your bag has not been in your possession the whole time prior to getting on your plane.
If you have kids this place is geared for them. They have sesame street stage shows, kiddie water park, and kid activities all the time.
The beach was beautiful with white sand and blue water. The grounds are beautiful. There are two adult water slides and mini lazy river that are nice. If you are not picky about food & service and have kids this may be the vacation for you.
