The Chancellor's staff was very helpful and friendly. They all tried their best to make our stay enjoyable. The suites were spacious enough to sleep four adults and two children. We had eleven people in our party, ranging in ages from two to sixty six; all felt comfortable in the bar and pool lounge area. It was perfect for causal meals, chatting, and socializing. The WiFi connection is good for the those who are constantly on their devices.
The location is within walking distance to the Botanical Gardens and the Savannah. If you get an early start, you can see the parrots leaving their roost in the Botanical Gardens. It's dry season now, so these areas lack their lushness, but it's a pleasant walk. We had a good size buffet stye breakfast every morning. This was surprising since the last time we came it was only a continental breakfast.
I'd like to commend Leslie, the cook, for making our California, New York, Trinidad family reunion dinner a lovely experience. Everyone enjoyed the Trinidadian style meal. If you are looking for something off the menu, such as plantains or salt fish, if available she'll hook you up.
This is a small local hotel. If you are looking for a Hilton or Hyatt experience then book the bigger hotel. If you want a causal, relaxing, local feel then this is the place.

Room Tip: Rooms near the poolside area can be a bit noisy. Rooms on the upper floor has high pitch ceilings which gives the room a spacious feeling.

This is a basic, clean and quiet hotel. The rooms all overlook a massive courtyard and there is a large gate that is closed at night that ensures you have the feeling of security. There is a large supermarket within walking distance and the Botanical gardens are a short walk away which is one a peaceful garden worth an evening stroll (or run). The staff were competent and responsive. There is little to do outside of the small poolside and restaurant so I spent most of the time in my room which is fairly large as is the bathroom/toilet area. It was good value for money and a mid range no frills choice that does not have the informal feel of the large "chain" hotels. So basic but good!

The staff does not know the area - they couldn't give us directions to restaurants within walking distance. The room may have been nice for the area, but really no better than a motel 6. The bathroom was in desperate need of maintenance. The pool was a nice area to relax by, but devoid of other guests and the bar wasn't staffed. The hotel indicated breakfast was included, but there was none served at all.

Rated as average for the area, but would rate as below average in a broader context.

Hi,
Thank you for your response. I must apologize if you were not directed to the mini cards or the map of things or the creole food magazine which provides information about places in and around the area. However, would look into ensuring information is accessible. In low season we close the bar at 6PM , but provide little items in our grab & go ; Once there is a special request for service after 6pm then certainly this is done. Once again communication was necessary. Maintenance is routine and would review the room you were in to ensure upgrades are done.
thank you
lisa

The room is spacious, ideal for a family of four, very tastefully furnished, quiet and homely. The staff was so friendly, check in was speedy and efficient, and the service there is great. My kids loved the waterfall pool, and the bar and restaurant is small but very comfortable and intimate. A big plus when compared to the larger busier hotels. Ideal for business, or a family vacation getaway. Also, the rates are great, and includes a simple breakfast. Very important, security was great, so we felt very safe, and literally 1 minute drive or less than 5 minutes walk from a major supermarket. There is a refrigerator in the apartment also. We were even offered free late checkout! And the free wifi was fast!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 311, it's right next to the pool, bar, restaurant, car park, great balcony view of the pool and courtyard.
