We stayed Mar 11-15. The hotel is still undergoing construction, but you can tell it's getting better by the day. They were working on the main pool deck when we were there. Open air lobby, welcome drinks, bar in the lobby and a swim up bar. Food was priced as it is over all of the island which is expensive. Prepare to pay $25 for two drinks and $50-70 for lunch with drinks. But that is everywhere on the island. Easy to get to other places. Within walking distance of shopping and other restaurants. Pools were nice, beach was OK. Beach is the beginning of seven mile beach and enclosed by a rock wall. All you have to do is walk around the corner and you're at the beach in front of Comfort Suites and Mariott. Many great beaches on Grand Cayman and if you intend to stick to one area you're missing out. Never had an issues getting beach chairs or pool chairs at anytime of the day. Servers even came out to the beach to take orders and bring it to you. Pools are shared with the condos, but that did not seem to be a problem. Rooms were comfortable and large. Free coffee in the room as well as water bottles.

The waitstaff were so nice, there just weren't enough of them. The bar is half on land, and half in the water as a swim up bar.
On a pretty day, and there are lots of pretty days, both sides are packed.
The couple of times we were there, there were only two bartenders and no bar backs. Although overwhelmed, they kept a cool, calm disposition and tried to keep everyone happy, even though the wait was long.

We stayed here as a 7 day, all inclusive vacation. The service was truly great and the meals were what we had hoped for, with sufficient variety that we never had to repeat entrees unless we chose to do so. Their top rated restaurant is Yara, with exquisite food, some of the best I have eaten, and I have been all over Europe. Our room was nice, not top of the line, but is was roomy with two queen beds, both of which were very comfortable. The very large lobby area I loved. It is open to the front and to the rest of the resort, so you never feel closed in. There were two large swimming pools and an opening to the ocean with an additional sea water area that was partially enclosed, and therefore totally safe. Seven Mile Beach goes on and on, so you can have a nice morning walk there. We are seniors, and felt our time at this Resort was well worth the cost. The Grand Cayman Island can be pricey, but you always feel there are lots of things to do and places to visit. The people of the island are friendly and kind. Anytime I had a question, every person I approached was happy to respond. The only things that you need to adjust to is driving English style, on the other side of the road. However, the traffic is not difficult, especially compared to many of the big cities in which I have driven. There are lots of round abouts, so that moved the traffic well. One other highlight was that you can walk anywhere, day or night. I have never felt safer anywhere in my life, and I live in a small city in British Columbia, Canada. This was a very well renovated resort. I would gladly stay there again. I visited two five star hotel lobbies and eating/swimming areas there and preferred ours to theirs. The Margaritaville Beach Resort on Seven Mile Beach was a good choice for us.

This is a great location. The rooms are nice. The need to fix some things. Better lighting in the bathroom. A mirror in the main room would be nice because while someone is using the bathroom, you can put your make up in the other part of your room. The staff have been very friendly. We have found a lot of good restaurants nearby. The beach area is nice. We have really enjoyed our stay so far. The only other annoying thing is the sink area in the bathroom is always wet and a lot of our stuff we have had to dry out. We think it might be the way the sink and facet are set up. Otherwise it is a good place to stay.

Beware, you are walking into a construction zone and you are sharing the beach/area with those who are staying in the condos.

ROOM: While the room was nicely renovated, the layout is odd and there were a few quirks. The door to the bathroom is this sliding door that will bang the other way if you slide it too hard (one of those wooden slatted doors) which also doesn't provide the privacy of a real bathroom door. There also is just one mirror in the room, which is in the bathroom - no full size mirror in the main area.

BEACH: I can't speak for the pool since I didn't go in it, but the beach was fine. Was it the best area on SMB? No. They've blocked off a section of the beach with rocks and the water is clear for the most part, with some rocky areas. If you're looking just for a dip in the water, this place is fine. But if you want endless clear water, you're better off walking down the beach towards the Marriott.

FOOD: Meh. Grand Cayman is generally expensive as it is, but the food was enough to get by. You're limited to a small menu of items for breakfast which were not cheap, nor was their poolside menu (standard burgers and salads). We avoided lunch here almost every single day.

Conclusions? This "resort" is limited. I had a great time here and the staff were friendly, but I probably won't be eager to come back to stay here.
