Took Grand Cayman Stingray and Reef snorkeling excursion offered by Norwegian Epic cruise ship. This was my first snorkel and I was excited but the excursion operator only supplied masks and no flippers. They told us flippers were no longer allowed near the reef. I was fairly helpless with fins but tried to snorkel anyway. With my mustache, water kept leaking in and I had to try to blow it out frequently. Without fins I could not tread water to do this so the snorkel was a failure. I now know I can use silicone to get a seal on the mask but it was a bummer to have no fins. Is this BS or real? I will buy and take my own gear next time.
Our Cruise guide for the exploration of the entire island - John Swanson had sooooo much knowledge and historical information. I would highly recommend the best of Grand Cayman as an excursion and look for John!
This was our second time on a cruise ship that had a stop at Grand Cayman Island. We visited the Turtle farm and Hell the last time and enjoyed both. This time we had plenty of time to visit around town and do some shopping. There is free wifi at the bar which is in the secure area after getting off the tenders. Also, there are plenty of souvenir shops just in this area alone. But, it was nice to go to the local craft market across the street and visit some other shops on the side streets.
We did the dolphin encounter and afterwards on 7 mike beach coral resort club. The beach was horrible and we could only use certain chairs because they were reserved for cabanas. The beach was all trees and buggy. You had to walk down steps to a very small strip of beach. Most of us on this excursion didn’t stay and asked to back to the cruise ship.
The dolphin encounter was great.
We heard from other passengers they took a taxi to 7 mike beach and it was beautiful. Don’t miss the beach by going to this beach club. Not worth it.
Not enough time in the port...not a broad choice of excursions...waste of time leaving the ship...would stay on ship next time...
My husband and I visited Grand Cayman for the 4th time while on a 2 week cruise with Carnival Cruise. If you decide to walk around there is plenty to see for free, to include local shops and restaurants. We decided to explore town by bus. Once we stepped out of the cruise we decided to buy a tour with a local tour vendor outside the port. For $15.00 per person. We felt safe as many other cruisers were part of it. We had a tour, guided for a total of 3 hours, around George Town, Hell Town, Tortuga and Dolphin park, the 7 mile beach, and the Tortuga Factory Store. Our guide was funny, and knowledgeable of the area. She ensured we all had enough time to spend on each stop. Learned a lot, passed by beautiful houses of very important people, millionaires, and politicians of the area. Area is super clean, beautiful and peaceful. Tour was well worth it! I recommend visiting Grand Cayman Islands.
