My husband and I stayed at Peter Island April 18-21 of this year, prior to a 7 day stay on St. John. We had visited the island before on a private charter for lunch, and couldn't wait to come back. We booked our stay through American Express and so we were given an upgrade to a Beach Front room upon arrival. Amazing is the only word to describe it! Our room was right on the beach and we could fall asleep to the sound of tiny waves crashing at night. The room was great - very spacious, and the bathroom was gorgeous! We arrived on a Wednesday night (would not recommend - will get to that later), and it was Caribbean buffet night. The food was delicious and we sat right off the beach and enjoyed our meal to the soundtrack of a live steel drum band. We spent the following day on the beach - LOVE the cushy beach chairs - just relaxing. The view is outstanding. We had all our meals on the island (it's not real easy to get to other islands to eat), but we enjoyed every meal.
Our last full day on the island was spent at the spa. I would definitely recommend visiting the spa if you have the time. I had a mud wrap and my husband had a massage. The staff is very friendly and the spa is exquisite, complete with its own beach and pool. We even had lunch brought up to the spa for us.
The highlight of our trip was our stay in the Crow's Nest villa. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in this villa for the last two nights of our trip. The place is absolutely breathtaking with quite possibly the best view I've ever seen in the entire Virgin Islands. If you can't stay there, the hotel typically has a cocktail party there every so often - definitely check it out!
We enjoyed everything about our stay at Peter Island and are already planning our trip back to paradise! Can't wait!
Some things to know:
1 - Peter Island has a ferry service from St. Thomas on Tuesdays and Saturdays ONLY. If you are flying into St. Thomas, try to come one of those days. We arrived on a Wednesday, and thought we had a ferry plan. Unfortunately, the ferry operators arbitrarily change their ferry schedules. Needless to say it was a NIGHTMARE getting to the island from St. Thomas (3 taxis, and 2 ferries). If you can, try to fly into Beef Island (although we were told that flights from the US to Beef Island were discontinuing this year).
2 - Make sure that your phone is connected to wireless, otherwise your phone bill will be atrocious. The BVI charges 50 cents per text, $2.00 a minute for calls and $30.00 per MB of data used. Ouch.
3 - The hotel likes for you to make reservations early in the day for dinner. Get a schedule of what days which restaurants are open.
You will have such a great time here! And, I would be remiss if I did not mention the amazing customer service by Collin, the Concierge and Michael our Resort Host. Just wonderful.
