Owner description: Anegada or the "drowned island" is completely surrounded by shallow reefs, and has become the focal point of underwater diving due to the many historic shipwrecks that litter the island's underwater depths.

We have visited Anegada a number of times in the past 20 years. This trip was different since we hired Captain Kelly and his nephew Kendrick for an up close trip out to the coral reef that surrounds the north and eastern side of the island. We read that it is one of the largest coral reefs in the Atlantic. A couple hours with incredible fish, turtles and manta rays highlighted with a conch harvest. We gathered more than a dozen and Kendrick instructed us how to clean and prepare them. Raw conch melts in your mouth! The Lobsta Trap prepared out catch 3 ways and was a premier appetizer to out lobster dinner. Hint- order the half or share. They were huge.

Sailing to Anegada Island was one of the highlights of our 8 day adventure on our friends Cat. We secured a mooring ball at Setting Point on the south side of the island. We caught a ride from the Lobster Trap (restaurant) to the north shore and the Anegada Beach Club at Keel Point where we spent the afternoon swimming.

The beach is expansive with beautiful white sand. The wind kicks up more on the north side, perfect for kite sailing. Water is like bath water and it's crystal clear. Nice part is you can walk pretty far out before it gets up to your neck. The kids LOVED using their snorkeling gear. Couldn't get them out of the water!

Anegada itself is different from all the other islands. It's the only coral island in the Virgin Islands -- the rest are all volcanic islands. Unlike all the others that rise well above the water, Anegada is completely flat.

We paid $35 to secure a mooring ball for the evening which is a good price. Unlike a number of popular sailing destinations in the Islands where you have to get there early if you want to secure a mooring ball, we arrived a little after noon and there were plenty of balls available.

If you're sailing and need provisions, you're out of luck. However, there are some very nice restaurants you can hit for lunch or dinner. We made reservations (highly recommended you make a reservation!!) at the Lobster Trap and it didn't disappoint -- excellent dinner and atmosphere. Had one of our best meals there.

We arrived via a 44 ft catamaran to this small island surrounded by coral reefs that have created the most beautiful white sand beaches around the island. We rented a Moped to explore the island. We ate and snorkels at loblolly bay ... food was average but the sand and beach were stunning. Snorkelling was so-so. Coral was not spectacular , almost dead. We also went to cow wreck bay. Another spectacular beach. There is a beach restaurant there as well but we did not eat. The water and sand were surreal. We did eat at the restaurant potters bar and lobster house. Fresh lobster grilled on the BBQ ... wonderful meal. Great ambience overlooking the sunset.
A beautiful island and great experience

Anegada was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. We went over on a catamaran and moored for the night. Barry come out to get the mooring fee and will set you up for dinner reservations at many locations. We chose Whispering Pines and it was easily the best lobster dinner ever. They had a table all set up waiting for us.

This was our second visit to Cow Wreck beach. Visiting with the family members who own/run the bar and gift shops is a treat. They are warm and friendly, make great drinks and have reasonable prices in the shops. The beach is second to none!!!
