We just got back from 8 wounderful days at the Windjammer resort. I read A LOT of reviews before we picked our vacation spot and want to express my thanks to TripAdvisor and all those who rated the Windjammer so accurately on this web site.

Here's my review, based on our personall experience. It was our first stay at the Windjammer, but certainly not our last. Our trip was from March 25 - April 2. We were 2 families (2 kids ages 24 and 26), total of 6, ages 24 - 54. I will give my review in areas of interest.

The Room: We had booked a 3 bedroom villa with plunge pool. Upon arrival, Helen (our Ambassador) was able to get us a very nice upgrade to a 4 bedroom Villa Estate, # 404, "Villa Paradsie". It truely was paradse. The villa was at the top of the hill and the view was simply stunning. Shuttle service was excellent, never having to wait more than 5 minutes to be driven down the hill. And those roads, wow, what a ride. :-) .

Food: All 6 of us did the all-inclusive. Well worth it! We tried all the resturants and enjoyed Papa Don the best. Ate there for 3 of the dinners. The pizza was just outstanding. The other couple we were with are Itilian and they said they were very impressed with the food from Papa Dons. The other resturants were also very good and I can honestly say you won't be disappointed wherever you decide to eat. The 2 girls ( 24 and 26) are picky eaters and found food they liked at all the resturants.

Staff: ALL staff were exceptional, polite, courteous, and very attentive to our needs. They TRUELY were concerned that everything we wanted was taken care of. We used the dive shop and had 4 exceptional dives. We took advantage of the water programs and did skiing, wake boarding, sailing, and snorkeling, and golfed at the St. Lucia CC.

Overall Impression: We were looking for a very relaxed, kick back, veg out vacation. We found it at Windjammer. You can be as active or inactive as you want. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star resorts throughout the world, cruised the Caribbean numerous times, and can honestly say this was our best overall vacation.

If anyone has questions, please e mail me at the address listed.

Thanks Windjammer, we are already planning our next stay in 07 with you.

We spent our honyemoon at Windjammer Landing and were so impressed with it! I have spent time in other Caribbean islands and did not enjoy them nearly as much. We had a wonderful view of the ocean. The beach was not the largest in the world, but very nice. There were plenty of trees to shade a good portion of the beach. The island itself is rather expensive, so if you're on a budget, you might not get to do all you want. All inclusive is definitely the way to go. We had so much fun with the watersports. We took a Jammer's day sail to the south of the island and toured some there.....definitely worth it!!!
The entire staff at the villa was so polite and treated us like family. The roads are curvy and steep, but we had no problems getting the shuttles to and from the lobby.
I was hesitant about the food at first but it was so very good. Jammer's bar was by far our favorite. We also visited Dragonfly and The Upper Deck, and were very happy with the food at both of these as well. We spoke with a couple who stayed at one of the Sandals there and they were not pleased with their visit. We highly recommend Windjammer to anyone traveling to St. Lucia.

We stayed at the Windjammer from April 21st-26th. First off, after talking to other previous visitors, we decided to fly into the Castries (smaller airport) which was a GREAT decision. The airport is tiny, but it took all of 10 minutes to go through customs, get our luggage, and get into a cab. Within 25 minutes we pulled up to Windjammer.

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but the staff was very nice and gave us a complimentary glass of champeigne while we waited... and it was worth the wait. We were upgraded (without asking) from an Ocean View room to a 1 Bedroom Villa. Let me just say, my mouth I think literally dropped when we walked in. We were in #120 (to my knowledge, the higher up the villa, the better, so if you can, request a high up villa before arriving) We had a full kitchen, a living room, a beautiful bedroom, and a patio. It was beautiful!

We did the all-inclusive plan. It was $100 per person, per day. I don't necessarily know if we spent $200 each day we were there, however it was VERY nice to just sign a bill anytime we ordered anything, and not have to worry how much it was... food, drinks, water bottles, etc. Personally we thought the food was pretty good. I really liked how unlike other all-inclusives, it wasn't just a buffet. We actaully never once ate at a buffett. The breakfest was served at Dragonfly each day, and had a great menu to order off of. Lunch on the beach at Jammer's was great. (Great chicken ceaser salad), and we also liked Dragonfly for dinner (best dirty martini I ever had) We only stayed for 5 night, so the all-inclusive was great for us, however if we stayed longer, we may have tried some resturants off the resort for a few nights as well to split it up.

They had a live band playing everynight at Jammer's which was nice, and on Tuesday nights they have a "Manager's cocktail party" which was also nice. Later that night they had dancers and limbo, which was pretty lively.

We found everyone there extremely friendly. Always accomadating, and never once seemed like they didn't want to work there. The resort was very clean, as well as the villas. We sat at the beach each day, which was clean as well. It wasn't a huge beach, but we never felt thast we had to rush down early to get a chair, there were always more then enough.

We did need to take a shuttle service to get down to the "pool/beach" area, but when I tell you the shuttle was outside the villa 3 minutes after we called, I am not exaggerating! We did not find it bothersome at all!

The weather was beautiful every day we were there. Really hot, where you had to dip in the water every now and then, otherwise you would fry! (The forecast said rain before we went, and it never rained once)

As for who the resort is good for: We are a couple, in their mid-20's. I did think there would be more people in our age group. It did seem like there were a bunch of honeymooners (We saw about 4 weddings go on while we stayed there), however there were ALOT of families there with kids. It didn't bother us at all, but I could see it being a little to "kiddy" for a honeymoon.

Also, a side note of some other reviews which talked about being hasseled about timeshare. We were never onced called or approached about time share... So that NEVER caused any issue for us at all.

Overall we had an amazing 5 days. The people were great and attentive, the resort clean, the food was good and the weather was impecable!
Great Vacation!

We booked our holiday with Virgin Holidays and we can only say that this was a big mistake! We have been flying VA in Economy before, but this time the food was uneatable, the seats scrubby and the in flight entertainment not working properly. Our Rep in the Hotel was totally useless and all she did was trying to sell us overpriced Virgin trips around the island. We booked some, but had always problems with the pickup from the hotel because she forgot to organise taxis etc. When we experienced problems at the Hotel like the enormous noise (gigantic building site right next to the beach and Upper Deck Restaurant) we were met with complete ignorance and not much cooperation from her -so not such good customer service from Virgin Holidays.
Windjammer itself is one of the nicer All Inclusive Hotels, but with average food and average beach. The sea is murky and the sand is imported. There are no umbrellas and you have to be early for shady places. The service in all the restaurants is polite, but extremely slow and forgetfull and one reason we would not go back to this Hotel (beach restaurant waiting time for a Coke is around 20-30min).
Our interconnecting room with view towards Martinique was very good and not to far away from Reception, because this is one of the biggest problems with this hotel: THE SHUTTLE! - you wait forever and if you are up where the Villas are, you wait even longer. Kids Club is very unorganised and there was hardly anything going on there- so our children(12 and 6) never went or were involved in any activity. Most kids hang out around the pool or beach and therefore its very busy and noisy specially on the beach. Windjammer is definitely not a romantic Honeymoon destination!

We planned to stay at the windjammer for our honeymoon based on previous reviews and because we didn't want to go anywhere too commercial or crowded. We were very happy with the room and its beautiful view. It was very cozy and all that we needed. We were turned off, however, by all the children that were everywhere! We were told that this was due to the Easter holiday. We didn't expect to be one of the only young couples around! It was uncomfortable for us. The whining and crying got to us and we left. Also, the beach was not impressive at all. It was small, rocky and the water here was not as clear as the next resort we stayed at. We also were not very impressed with the food. The value was not great and the quality was ok. The ambassadors were very friendly and accommadating. They were very understanding about our reasons for being unhappy and even suggested another resort and called us a cab to go look at it. When we made the decision to leave, however, we were turned over to the manager who of course offered us room upgrades if we stayed. Since it wasn't the room we were unhappy with, we didn't accept. They did charge us an extra 2 night penalty (the ambassador told us we would only be charged the night we stayed-so they should be careful about that) but we figured that would happen. This place is probably great if you are a family and stay in one of the big estate villas with a pool. It really is beautiful all the way up there. We, however, will not be back.
