We stayed here in November 2011 for 10 nights and had an ocean view room which was very big and comfortable but I was not happy with the lack of ocean I saw due to large palm trees outside the window. The reception staff were very very helpful, we got upgraded for free to a one bedroom apartment with a sun terrace and panoramic views of the ocean. Unfortunately it did rain a lot during our stay but our sun terrace which was partly sheltered was much appreciated.
Food was excellent, a variety of restaurants and never too busy. You do need to be quite fit as the resort is on a hill so lots of walking. The hotel do supply a mini bus which is always going up and down picking up and dropping off people if you do not want to walk.
The beach is lovely and sandy but the ocean was disappointing as the mud from the mountains and hills would slide into the water, so the sea was very cloudy and silty, not good if you like to snorkel.
Several trips where available but we did not want to participate in these due to being a migraine sufferer, I just wanted to stay put.
The staff at all the bars and restaurants were very friendly and helpful, the entertainment was fun, don't miss the managers cocktail party, every Tuesday evening, free drinks and nibbles and market stools for those holiday purchases. The room cleaners were lovely and trusting, I really could not fault the resort at all, oh and the breakfast buffet had such a variety of food, hot and cold, freshly cooked choices too. If you like cats, there were some resort cats that hang about at the restaurants, very healthy looking cats, we enjoyed feeding them, quite friendly and the staff did not seem to mind. The gym was basic but enough to exercise and had sea views. A must resort to visit. :)

Room Tip: Higher up the hill will give you better sea views, don't be afraid to ask for a better room as t...

We have just returned from the Windjammer and we had a fantastic time.

Please don't be put off by any bad reviews, some people are just too picky and this is probably not the hotel for them. If you want ultra modern then this is not the place for you, but if you like laid back and fantastic, quirky that is a bit rough round the edges just go, you will have the time of your life. Yes it is an older resort, and in places it shows, but this just adds to its appeal. The staff make this place the fantastic resort it is, they are really friendly, always obliging and happy to help.

Our ambassador Charlene (or one of the team) were always on hand to help us, and would call us in our room to see if all was ok and if we needed anything. The only one downside (and it is being very picky really as they are just doing their jobs) is we did get asked quite a few times about the time share properties there and whether we wanted to go on the villa tours. You have to expect this as the private villas are time shared, but just tell them no and they dont bother you again.

We spent 14 nights here in a deluxe ocean view room, right at the top of the complex, it is hilly and there are lots of steps, but the shuttle service that operates round the resort is fabulous, they operate 24 hours and will pick you up and take you to wherever you want to go.

The restaurants are all fabulous, especially the Steak in the Upper Deck and the pizza's at Papa Dons. The beach is good, a nice shallow bay for paddling and a deeper area for swimming in. My Boyfriend was impressed with the diving and says a big thank you to Fern and JR who run a great Dive School. He also sampled the windsurfing and Kiyaking.

I went to the spa a couple of times and was impressed by the treatments. I had a lovely massage and facial and felt rejuvinated after.

St Lucia itself is also lovely and the people are very friendly. It is a tropical Island so expect a little rain at times and a few mosquitos.

The resort is quite a way from the airport, it took about an hour and 15 mins by car to get there, so if you don't like travelling in small buses book a private car to take you there and back like we did. The Taxi drivers were really friendly, they love to chat about England, football and anything really and will take you anywhere you want to go and wait for you.

We went on a few trips to Castries, go to Port Seraphine for the duty free shopping and to see the big cruise ships that stop there for the day. We had a lovely late afternoon there shopping and watching the Carnival Victory Cruise ship departing. We also went to Rodney Bay to the malls, they were a bit of a let down really half the shops were closed down. We also went on the Endless Summer Catamaran Cruise down the West Coast to the Pitons and the Drive in Volcano. Had a lovely day eating, drinking and snorkelling off the boat. This trip is a must!

Honestly this is a fabulous place and we loved it, don't hesitate to book it.

Thanks Windjammer Landing - we are missing you and the lovely St Lucian Sunshine x

We just spent a week at Windjammer with our two girls ages 8 & 13 and had a fantastic time from check-in to check-out. We stayed in a villa near the top of the property and at first we were afraid the shuttle to resturaunts and the beach might be a bit of an inconvienience. These worries quickly evaporated as we never waited more than 1 or 2 minutes for a shuttle during our entire stay. The drivers were all extremely pleasant and eager to talk about their resort and their island. One particular driver named Arlington showed up at our door at 8:00 am with fresh Mangos for our girls after they had been asking him about the trees the previous day. We ate at all the resturaunts on site and found them all to be quite good. Our favorites were Papa Don's for pasta and seafood and The Upper Deck for the steak. Andre at Papa Don's was another stand out, always welcoming us back and chatting while we were seated, even noticing (and maybe a bit disappointed), that I was not was not wearing my "St.Lucia Beads" on our final night.
The watersports staff were all fantastic and entusiastic whether they were teaching us to sail Hobie Cats, taking the girls for tube rides, or pointing out eels and octopus on the free snorkel tours. While they were all great, I need to mention Nico in particular for his never ending smile and genuine enthusiasim for the guests. We booked a couple of trips through the tour desk to go out on a day sail and to zip line in the rain forest. I would recommend both if you have the time. We also travelled to the Castries market for a morning and had a blast. The local vendors were all proud of their wares and eager to bargain. Make sure to scout out the actual made in St.Lucia products as opposed to the imports.
It would be very easy not to leave the resort at all given all the amenities and the beautiful villas but we always like to get out and see a bit of the country we are in.
If I had one tip for anyone it would be to take advantage of all the amenities and the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. They are there to help and they all seemed to genuinely enjoy us being there. We definitely hope to return soon

Room Tip: The higher you go, the better the view

Myself and three others just came back from the Windjammer Resort where we spent 12 days. We reserved a villa (we had requested 2 bedrooms but it actually had 3 with the third being 2 single beds) and so we were able to stock up on groceries and drinks in our condo and spend much of our time there. It had a plunge pool which made things very nice if we didn't want to go to the main pool. We could tell the resort was a bit older but that added to the uniqueness of the villas. Activities on the island are abundant and we simply ran out of time to do everything (we recommend Charlie's Tours)! The staff at the resort were very friendly and accomodating and I would recommend it to anyone. One word of advice that I would give is that its not great for someone who is mobility challenged. Even though there are shuttles to get to the villas, there is still a lot of up and down walking (either hills or stairs).

We went up to Gros Islet one Friday night -- highly recommended. The resort can be a bit quiet for the "heavy partiers" but Gros Islet on Friday is anything but quiet. Great food, great entertainment.

Dive shop on the resort was very good, professional and knowledgeable. I commend JR and Fern on how they operate their dives and appreciated their care in taking my friend out for the first time.

Room Tip: For a group of people or a family, the villas are the way to go.
