Our first all inclusive holiday, so no standard of comparison, but thought most of the negative comments posted here were pretty ridiculous. We had a great time.

Spent seven nights and one of the best things we did was take a couple of excursions off resort. Based on tripadvisor recommends, we hired Kevin Morrison as our driver for a day and he gave us a great tour of the immediate area includng Dunns River Falls and Scotchies which were both must do's. http://www.jamaica-travels.com/

Also booked a full day tour to Kingston through the hotel and while not "pretty", we learned a lot and saw another side of Jamaica. Not for everyone but we wouldn't trade it away for anything. Again, our guide was superb.

The resort itself was totally relaxing and enjoyable. I tire of buffets, so knowing this, after reading tripadvisor we booked our a la carte restaurants early. All were different and good, but based on personal preference I would rate them 1) Mikado 2) Dolce Vita 3) Don Pablo 4) Garden Grill.

I could see why some reviews were less enthusiastic about some aspects of the resort but everything was lovely as far as we were concerned. We did not go looking for faults or problems. And the staff were incredible! Friendly and hard working kind and honest and happy and made you just love their island.

Best recommendations to pay forward...buy a Canadian Tire "Bubba" insulated travel mug or something similar and adopt the Jamaican way of looking at life when you step off your plane.

You're there to relax so don't sweat the small stuff. Just remind yourself, there are no problems, just situations :)

It is my pleasure to emphatically applaude the staff of this resort on their hospitable personalities that made our stay on this resort so memorable and special. I must mention Miss Wiggan by name, her warm inviting smile and helpfullness, encouraged and assured me that I was in good hands and my stay would be trouble free. Not to mention "Our Diana", as we affectionately called her. Came to work daily with her "A" game and preformed no less. From the receptionist to the ladies who took such good care of the rooms. Everyone working together to ensure that their resort remain one of the best ever. Having travelled extensively, Big "high 5" for this resort, you are simply the best. keep up the good work. The group of 52 applaud you on your good work. Will be back with my family and I am too happy to recommend this resort to family and friends.

Okay, so getting straight to the point here. My husband and I went last week to this resort, 6/12-6/15, and we were not pleased at all! 1st: Our room was on the 6th floor at first and the AC was not working! it was sooo hot, so we called front desk, the technician came, "fixed" it, left, and air STILL was not working. We asked to switched rooms, after a long hassle, they switched us to the 5th floor just to find out that the AC was just as bad in that room! so if you stay there, be prepared to be HOT and sweaty because their AC's dont work! felt more like a fan! 2nd: there were mosquitos and spiders that bit my legs and feet off all night! apparently, other customers had the same complaints and they were told by staff that the mosquitos come through the AC at night and thats how we got the bites! i personally saw a spider climbing out of our bed one morning and knew at that point that that explained the various different size bites on my legs! 3rd: i saw a roach in our room, yep, thats right, very nasty. 4th: the food was TERRIBLE! that is a done deal for me! the funny thing was that there was SOOO much food in the buffet, but we were lucky in we found two items we liked. 5th: the customer service was HORRIBLE! a waitress actually told me that my food smelled "awefull", yep, no lie, this is all very real. everyone was RUDE! no customer service at all! so if you stay there, dont expect to get much customer service! 6th: the resort was HUGE so distance from point A to point B was always very far, it was an adventure getting to the beach, buffet, front desk, etc. TOO MUCH distance in between things and that was bothersome after a day!The ONLY good thing about this resort is the beach, its pretty, but thats about it. if i could do it again i would have stayed at an American resort like the Sunset of Holiday Inn, i heard those are waaaaay better! good luck!

Room Tip: if you want a COOL room, try and get one on the first floor, i heard their AC actually worked there!

Dear guest,

Thank your for your recommendations through Trip Advisor, certainly it is through this communications the opprotunity that we have to receive your feedback, we really appreciate you took the time to share it with us.

Please kinldy note that we have been very concern about this situation and we would like to inform you that owing to a big breakdown in our chillers prevented to supply the cold air for a couple of days, as you might understand those situations are beyond of our control however our Maintenance staff fixed already this issue, and now they are working properly. However we would like to extend our most sincere apologies for the inconveniences caused.

Regarding the mosquitos, please note that is usual due to this season we are now and our tropical climate and the landscaping are factors that increase the proliferation of them, of course we continue with our programms of fumigation in order to avoid the reoccurrence of such a situation.

With great regret we have lerant that we did not reach your expectations with our meal service, we always try to elaborate a gastronomical offer taking in cosnidertaion the diversity of our guests, however we appreciate your reviews and they will be taken into consideration. Our guests perception is extremelly important and valuable for us.

We thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns to our atention and in the name of our General Manager and all Team members at Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming again in the near future.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 5 nights. The place is open 24 hours and the climate allows them to have an open air lobby with no doors. it was a beautiful property, with a huge pool, 2 beaches and a nude beach area. The swim up pool bars were fun, but slow to get service with one bartender. We had great food in the buffets during all meals. the Italian resteraunt was a dissappointment (it was a buffet with you getting to order the main course). The Japanese resteraunt was good, and they even made me a meat free main course that was huge.

Our room was pretty good for such a busy place. It could use some fine detailing from maintenance, but overall was clean. The room key has to be put in a slot in the wall to have the electricity on in the room. ours was on when we walked in, so we didn't try the slot. the only things I noticed was the fridge was not very cold and the alarm clock did not run on time. it's like the room had half power, but was not a big deal.

We went to the Dunn's River falls to climb the waterfalls and I recommend you try it. (unless you can't climb well. it's a work out for 45 minutes.) I got my hair braided after the falls and it lasted over 2 weeks after it was done!

I could go on and on. This property was great and so was Jamaica!

Room Tip: Get a room on the 3rd floor or higher for great views and less people walking past. US dollars are...

We stayed at the Bahia from June 11th til the 18th. Our experience was very good. We were a little skeptical going in after reading all of the reviews but we ignored them all. I can see if you are very picky this resort is not for you. We even stayed in room 16407 which overlooks the stage area with no problems. The shows were a little loud but we could watch them from the balcony (which by the way has a beautiful view of the bay) and go in when we were tired. We just turned up the TV and it drowned out the sound of the shows. We have 2 kids 8-11 and they thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the Jamaican experience. One of the entertainment staff took our daughter with her every night and let her experience the shows with her. The food was average at best. Got a little old eating same cuisine everyday. The highlight of our trip was Paul Williams. He picked us up from the airport on Monday. He came and got us on Friday for a day filled with excursions. For a very fair price he takes you wherever you want to go. We started our day at 10 am and he took us for freshly picked mangos which the resort doesn't offer. Then he took us to Dunns River Falls. We really enjoyed this experience but wanted to see more of the authentic Jamaican experience. My kids told him they wanted fresh coconut juice so he took us to a local vendor and got them fresh cold coconuts. After this we went to what he called the Blue Hole. This place was truly amazing. Exactly what we were looking for. He introduced us to Kevin whom runs the Blue Hole and he toured us through the place. It was breathtaking. There were waterfalls, caves and rainforest we had totally to ourselves. We thought we were truly in the Blue Lagoon. After our tour there were some local village boys swimming with our kids. It wil be a trip our kids will never forget. After leaving there we were hungry so he took us to a favorite jerk hut for some lunch. Again truly amazing, much better than at the resort. From there my kids wanted to see margaritaville so with a smile on his face he also took us there. From there we went to a local authentic market to buy some souvenirs which were real Jamaican and to give a little to the Jamaican people. Again a trip our family won't soon forget. On the way back to the resort he said there was one more thing we had to see. He went up on side road through a town in which there were people everywhere. Just hanging out, eating, shopping and having a good time on a Friday payday in which Paul said. Truly an unforgettable scene. Then as we were getting closer to thee resort he took us for ice cream at a local parlor which he said was ranked 4th in the world and I could why. Devonhouse Jamaica. Very good. Throughout the day Paul took time to explain the local cultures and point out everything we needed to see. If you are ever in Jamaica this is a MUST do. Paul takes his job/country serious and is extremely accommodating. He also brought us back to the airport on Monday again with a smile on his face. A trip we won't soon forget.
