2 years ago, while staying at RIU Tropical Bay, my husband and I brought the family to have dinner at Catcha because of all the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were so impressed with the ambiance of the property and the food that this year we decided to spend a few days there alone before joining our family at RUI. I wasn't aware at the time I made the reservation that it might be difficult to get a 3 day stay, and accepted their offer of the Gatehouse for our stay from March 6 to 9. Luckily, when we arrived we were given the option of upgrading to the Leo suite for 2 days with a 30% discount. There was no question which we would choose. The Leo had a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea and was generally gorgeous. The Gatehouse, although updated and sweet, was, as its name indicates, at the gate, and therefore, noisy, but for one night it was fine. We spent most of our time on the gorgeous grounds anyway.
The food was beautifully cooked and presented, with much variety, especially at dinner. For lunch, the snapper sandwich was both a bargain and delicious. The staff, from our first encounter in the office, to the ladies who coordinate the dinners( hello Vivianne!) and serve them, or to the ever pleasant bartenders at Ivan's Bar are hard working, courteous, efficient and so personable. Even after a day or two, we felt like family.
The flowers are beautiful, plentiful and well maintained and provide for lovely photos and bird watching opportunities. We met others there who quickly became enjoyable companions. The relaxed atmosphere of the place and the powerful drinks at the bar made for a lot of laughs. I would go back in a minute.
If there was a minor criticism, it would be that the bed was not as comfortable as I expected. The mattress seemed to dip toward the middle. But again, this was a minor aspect of the entire experience.
