“Laid-back, beauty”
Reviewed 9 May 2012

The resort is very nice but I would not consider this a 5 star property. We had a lovely time, the staff was very friendly and the food was good. The beach and water were clean and beautiful; although there seems to be a bit of a beach chair shortage due to many people claiming/saving chairs the night before. Guests could stay as busy or as carefree as they wanted. We preferred the latter since we both left behind jobs & children in the US. If air conditioning is important do some research, not all rooms have it. All but one of the restaurants are open-air with only fans and breezes. We visited in April and temps were not much of a factor for us but I imagine the summer months get fairly hot and humid. Some of the finer points that keep me from rating CSA higher: 1)when paying almost 4K for a week in paradise I didn't want a view of chain link fence as I ate my breakfast in the restaurant. 2) the small ants (didn't bite) in our third floor room were annoying. 3) fan in the room had one speed-very high. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. We made the most of our stay, saw some great sunsets and best of all made some great friends and lifelong memories.

Room Tip: There are rooms near the main road that can be noisy. There are also rooms on the beach with limite...

We stayed in a Beachfront room, which provided easy access to the beautiful beach. The beachside accomodations were wonderful - plenty of lounge chairs, many beach/water activities. Staff provides drink service right to you as you sunbathe. We found the food to be excellent!

My wife and I chose Swept Away early in our planning and we had no idea what to expect from the trip. We had both never travelled internationally and being this was our honeymoon we hoped that we would have a no issue trip. We stayed 4-28 to 5-5 and had a great time.

It turned out to be better than that.

Flights/Airport Transfers
We flew out of St. Louis to Atlanta and then on to Montego Bay. The airport layover was flawless, no lost luggage and customs/immigration was a breeze. Once the paperwork was filled out the lines were short and we made it to the lounge for the first of many red stripes about 40 minutes after landing.
The drive to the resort was uneventful, informative and also scenic. It took due to the weather and traffic, 90 minutes to get to the resort. We arrived during the rain so we didnt drive as fast as some people had mentioned before. Tip the baggage handlers/driver that take your luggage from the couples lounge, they arent couples employees.
We arrived to the resort to a fresh cold towel and a glass of champagne. Check-in was a breeze and we were off to our room after 15 mins.

Room
We stayed in 3209, the Oceanview Verandah Suite. It was your basic room, bed, dresser, mini-bar, tv and bathroom. The verandah was amazing and with our room being on the corner we got to see the ocean from 2 different angles. We both liked the placement of the building we stayed in, it was central to everything and right on a nice shaded part of the beach.

Food/Drinks
This will be short. We never had a bad meal or a bad drink.
Each restaurant offers something different. Lemongrass and Feathers were fantastic. Palms and Patois were each great. The cabana grill was a must do for us each day for lunch. Seagrapes had great grilled fish and my wife loved the sweet potato chips and hummus.
Drinks - try something new everyday. Each bar has something different.

Entertainment/Water Sports
We went snorkeling, the catamaran cruise, went to the piano bar, saw the showtime shows nightly and went out to the ocean each day. We had no issues or complaints with how things were run or the entertainment provided.

Room Service/Maid Service
The continental breakfast was a good way to start the day out on the verandah with a cup of coffee and some banana bread. The room was cleaned every day and the bar was restocked each day with what was used. We didnt feel the need to ask for more because the bars were right there for what we needed.

Pros
The Ocean, it was clear and calm each day. Saw some fish, rays, and even a turtle one day.
The Food, like I said we never had a bad meal.
The staff, everyone had a smile on their face, said hello, asked how you were doing, etc. We felt welcome in every way and they made sure that if you needed/wanted something they took care of it.

Cons
The ants in the room. We left a rum/coke glass out over night and ants were all over it. QUICK SOLUTION - we brought Clorox wipes with us, wipe down the counter tops, cabinet tops by the minibar. The rest of the trip we had no ants the rest of the time.

I read so many reviews about the resort before we left and decided that we weren't the type of traveller that needed everything, that required that all the parts of the trip be 5-star class.
We went in with no expectations and came away knowing this resort should be our "home".

My beef with all the reviewers - "Jamaican Time"
We didnt experience that at all. We were there to relax and get away from it all. Not getting my 5th mojito of the day right away didnt bother me at all. The experience of interacting with the staff made the trip.
Derman - best beach waiter ever...we asked for Colorful drinks and he didnt disappoint.
Rayan - make sure to see him at Feathers
Emmeil - made check in a no hassle, fun experience.
Justine - the coffee was fresh every morning at the palms - made sure the cup never went dry.
The watersports staff - answered all questions and took care of us.
Bar staff - took your order and had fun with it.

Sorry for the long-winded review, but felt the need to write out the best parts of the trip.
There was so much more but i couldnt write it all down.
If you need any more info or have any questions shoot me a message.

Last thing, you wont be disappointed if you choose Couples Swept Away.
We found our "home".

Room Tip: Corner Oceanview gave us multiple views of the sea. Central location = equal distance to bars, rest...

Stayed at CSA Apr 8-22. We had a garden varanda room. We were concerned about road noise but it wasn't all that bad. Once you had you ac on with doors closed, you didn't hear much. We loved the garden room because of the thick foliage. Beautiful. The tree frogs at night sung us a lullabye, they were louder than the traffic, but what a beautiful serenade. One of the best things about the room was that there were no toes bangers! No little steps or ledges. It was also very clean. I loved the varanda and spent most of our room time here. We had little issues with the bugs, just turn on your ceiling fan and they stayed away.
The food was very good and tried out all the dining options. Good varatity and quality. I was afraid of putting on weight, but didn't. So good healthy foods. I mostly enjoyed early morning continental breakfast in the room. Perfect start to the day.
The beach is of coarse all you could want except for the beach vendors. They can become a bit bothersome. After a few days we would only walk the beach in the early mornings to avoid being mobbed. This is the only thing I did not enjoy. If they could have the vendors stay in there spots so you could go to them it would be a lot more relaxing. High pressure sales for sure!!! Anyways, minor issue and some people really enjoy that aspect. :) The water at the beach is mainly calm, perfect for floating. There are 2 huge sting rays that we saw swimming just below us from our floats. Like shadows moving towards you. They seemed harmless. The life guard says that they are there everyday. Shout out to Deerman our beach waiter. He was great and unless it was super busy, never had to wait for a drink. They were very accommadating, mixing up anything you wanted.
Did the catameran tour and was fun, but should have snuck our own bottle on board. Watched buddy bartender mix up the punch and there was only about a 1/4 of bottle of rum put in a huge bucket of mix. I drank and drank and drank.....nothing but heartburn. lol
The ride back and forth to the airport was good, felt safe.
All in all a great vacation. If we were to go to Jamaica again it would only be a week. We just didn't like being hassled all the time by the locals and it was there where ever we went. Found that part of the vaca exausting.
Jamaica is a beautiful country and if I visit again I will try to find a quieter spot...no vendors/sellers.
