“Amazing resort 5 star service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

The most amazing resort i have been to. The food was amazing definitely 5 star standard. The cocktails and drinks were great and plenty of them, rooms were nice and comfortable. Fitness centre was world class and the personal trainers were a great bonus especially after all the great food. there is nothing that i would change about this holiday. amazing.

We returned here having visited 2 years ago. Our friends were renewing their vows. I will say the vow renewal ceremony was very nicely done. The pictures turned out great and it was a special morning.
Pros: The beach is still incredible with powder white sand and crystal clear water. They do offer top shelf alcohol if you know to ask for it. The drinks are made strong so make certain to also drink plenty of water. Our entire group of 8 had thermal mugs with us and that made a huge difference to keep the drinks from melting immediately. Lunch, the cabana grill serves the most flavorfull snapper sandwiches, I had one (at least one) everyday. Green flag service on the beach. This was not as attentive as our last trip here but Kareem and Derman seemed to be covering larger areas and did their best (ya mon! don't be afraid) Rooms: this time we selected a beach front suite and ours was really nice with a huge veranda porch. The air conditioning works very well considering that room has louvered shades without window panes. The sunsets here are amazing. Our group on our last night held our own champagne party on the beach and it was quite special.

Cons: The staff seems to be experiencing a high rate of turn over. Many of the staff we spoke to had been here less than 6 months. The housekeeping and room support was hit or miss. We changed rooms after our first night due to having absolutely no beach view even though we were considered beach front. This lead to us going two straight days after that without any mini-bar service. In 4 out of the 8 days we did not receive the normal turn down service.
ANTS, ANTS and tons of ANTS. I know it is the tropics but it seems as the resort has taken the approach that the guests will get over it. We bagged our tooth brushes every time and rinsed any glasses used but the little buggers were still there at all times.
Staff, many seem to be uninspired, disgruntled and going through the motions. Many times when walking up to the beach bar, I was the only customer there, the bartenders often times turned their backs and held their private conversations and made you wait. It really seemed like this was done on purpose to keep you on Jamaica time. There is no sense of urgency towards customer service. In fact customer service here is lacking. The entire resort has 4 foot wide pathways all through-out. Many times two employees would be walking towards you side by side and they would say hi but not move forcing the couple walking towards them to slide to the side to go around them, shouldn't this be the other way around?
Other reviews have mentioned the carts on the pathways. This is just an a logistics issue that could be solved with solved with either polyurethane or inflated tires. They do start running at 6:00 am and go all day and until about 10:00 pm.

Summary: the beach is well worth the issues, I would suggest this as a good place to visit for the beach, the romantic rooms and the awesome lunch spot, however, with so many places to go and see, I will most likely not return.

Room Tip: get an Atrium suite, if not avoid rooms near the road

We have stayed at many 5 star AI resorts in the Carribean, so we are definitely comparing from experiences at others.

Room was nice and comfortable if you don't mind old and tacky furnishings. The bathroom is old with old fashioned tub and shower. Mirror nasty and corroded. Balcony was very nice but only had one chair and a vinyl sofa that was old and corroded.

Housekeeping was excellent however we did not have washcloths a few days because they ran out. Not the housekeepers fault. Turn down service was good.

Beverage service in the room was lazy and requests were not honored even though they have a system in place for it. ice bins located in each building were very unsanitary. Also ice buckets in the rooms were dirty and did not have plastic liners in them. I'd bet they have never been clean.

There are two reservation restaurants. Lemongrass which was horrible and Feathers which was amazing both with service and food. it was clear that this restaurant was their premier restaurant and staff was trained appropriately. this is the standard we have seen and expected at all the other resorts we have visited, but for some reason Feathers is the only one that practiced it at CSA. The other restaurants never varied much on their menu and food choices, so if you are staying for several days, you will probably get tired of the food. breakfast was definitely the best! French toast at Patiosand the Palms was exceptional!

Beach is absolutely wonderful. Bar and beach service friendly and fun.

While the resort includes most water activities (most don't), the water sports staff was very unfriendly with the exception of the female in the hut and one other guy. most acted as if your requests were a bother. I even walked up one day when the staff were making fun of the visitors request. Another visitor heard them doing the same thing another time. The catamaran cruise was the exception, but the boat and staff were contracted out.

The nightly entertainment was exceptional. Don't miss the steel drum band! Piano bar, bonfire, etc. All great!

In a nutshell, the staff needs to be trained in customer service. Not only were a lot of the staff unfriendly, they were downright rude. I'm not looking for special treatment when on vacation, but I do expect service in a friendly manner. this was the second most expensive resort out of several we have visited, but definitely the worst. It's painful to spend that kind of money and have an unfriendly experience. I suggest management train all the staff the way the Feathers staff is trained. I also suggest the management visit a Secrets, Iberostar, Excellence, or The Royal Hideaway to see how a classy and customer service establishment is run. I look forward to the day that CSA gets bought out and a real resort builds in that spot!

This was our first time to Negril but second trip to Jamaica. We have been to seven other All Inclusives that included Montego Bay, Mexico, Punta Cana and Aruba.

We left Pittsburgh on April 12th and we arrived In Montego Bay at 12:30 for a seven day visit. Customs was a breeze and we only waited 10 minutes at the Couples Swept Away Lounge before we were on our way. The road to the resort was fine and we were able to see some of the little towns along the way.

We were three couples traveling together. We along with the second couple booked the Atrium Suites and the third couple booked a Gardenview Room. Boy did we luck out. The Atrium Suites we booked were both on the top floors and had unobstructed views of the ocean. Not sure how we got so lucky. The bed is really comfy and housekeeping keeps it very clean. Don’t worry about the room getting cool. Several nights we turned off the air and used the fan because it got very cold. You will hear the tree frogs and the waves all night. Workers and guests are out and about early in the moring. I am an earlier riser but If you are a light sleeper you may want to book a room that is not screened in. I had read it was like sleeping in a tree house and that’s an accurate description.

Don’t skip the orientation. This was our 8th trip to an all inclusive and the first Orientation we ever attended. Omar from Entertainment not only gave us the layout of the resort but added some Jamaican History. It was really helpful to know where the restaurants, bars and gift shops were all located.

We received an invitation to attend a Cocktail Party and thought why not? It was beautifully done with live music, an ice sculpture, cocktails, appetizers and desserts that were amazing. There was also a table with locally made products.

The beach is amazing and the water is crystal clear. We managed to get shade under the palm trees daily but even with sunscreen we all got a little more sun than we wanted. Beware of the Dreaded Sand Fleas. I was the unlucky one with probably 20 bites on my legs. Never saw them coming but boy do they itch. Thankfully we had Benadryl. I have been home for three days and the bites are starting to clear up.

My husband did the daytime snorkeling and also the night time snorkeling. No problem signing up for the snorkeling but make sure you do it very early in the day. Shout out to Oliver in the Water Sport’s Hut. Your buddies from Pittsburgh say hello.

We also booked the Glass Bottom Boat. Andre and his brother were the guides on our trip. I wasn’t expecting to see much but was pleasantly surprised at how clear you could see the reefs on the boat. Take the trip it’s really neat.

The Sunset Catamaran Cruise was awesome. Can it get any better? I’m thinkin not. We drank the rum punch, swam by the caves and enjoyed the sunset.

My friend and I were the only two in the Martini Class. Ricardo was nice and even gave us a recipe sheet for several martinis. My favorites are the Key Lime and Chocolate Martinis.

We also got to meet Ray, the painter, who does wonderful tee shirts and paintings. He is really talented and the shirts are only $20. He not only makes his trademark shirts but also did a custom design for one of the guys. He sits near the Watersports Huts most days. We almost had him convinced to paint us XMAS Ornaments but the Ornaments he brought were to fragile and he was afraid they would break.

Thanks to the numerous reports I read we didn’t miss the Piano Bar, Beach Barbeque or Bonfire on the beach. The Steel Drum show was nothing short of amazing.

We all loved the “islandy feel”and would definitely return.

Room Tip: Atrium Floor second story great view of the ocean but also has a spiral staircase.

We stayed in an atrium suite-as we had 21 years ago, and 2 subsequent years, when the resort first opened. Since then, in total, we have been to the Caribbean islands and Mexico over 30 times. My review is based on those comparisons.
The beach and sea were both beautiful, not to be excelled by any other place we have stayed. The food is excellent, for an AI, and the service is very good as well.
The night-life is nearly non-existent and there is no room service with the exception of a continental breakfast which was very nice, beginning at 6:30 am and served promptly when requested. The housekeeping department is excellent, and they will clean your room within the time frame you desire. However, no one alerts you to the fact that you need to call housekeeping to make this request. Do so, and your room will be cleaned when you wish it to be.
The swim-up bar, when we visited it several times, was dull and not at all what we have experienced at other resorts. This, perhaps, due to the fact that the beach is this resort's "calling-card".
My major complaint, and this may not be such an issue with folks who stay in rooms that are not in the original section and don't have the louvered windows, is their carts with their godawful steel wheels that start clanging at 6 am every morning and don't stop until nightime. These noisy contraptions, which could be rectified by the use of regular tires, made the vacation much less than perfect. Surely a resort of this caliber could afford to upgrade their carts to rubber tires. I am not talking about an occasional annoyance. I am referencing loud, wake-from-the-dead noisiness and clanging all day long, waking you from restful sleep every morning at the break of dawn.
Another botheration, looming at every resort, it seems, is the "towel game". It is still alive and well at CSA. Many times a palapala would have towels on the loungers beneath it, with no one using them all day. I don't know how this could be rectified, but, I have been to some resorts where the water sports personnel keep an eye on such shenanigans and remove towels which have been not in use for 2 or more hours. A lot of pressure to put on the staff, but it did work.
One other item that I need to address is the top shelf liquor. It is the best of any AI I have ever visited. Glenlivet scotch and Crown Royal even at the beach bars! Grey Goose served at the martini bar. Don't forget to ask for a lychee martini at the martini bar. The bartenders will try to fool the newbies into thinking the lychees are goat balls in the jar where they are marinating in vodka. Oh my, they are delicious.
Would I recommend CSA? Yes, if they are wiling to pay the price. However, I have been to other resorts which were a bit less expensive and just as nice. Also, I enjoy going to diferent resorts of the same 4.5 star rating to enjoy what they have to offer.

Room Tip: Until they rectify the cart situation, select a room with glass widows rather than the louvered wind...
